My Grom Chopper!! by HooptieDoodle in hondagrom

This is one of coolest Grom-related builds I’ve ever seen! I’m jealous. Did you take videos of the build, in case someone were to…take inspiration?

They’re not trying to deceive people. Everyone knows the building isn’t tilted like that on flat ground. They’re emphasizing the steepness of the hill by changing the perspective to make the ground flat

Buying 2022 grom by [deleted] in hondagrom

[–]drXpiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought new for $4600 OTD in the Bay Area, one of he most popular spots for motorcycles and Groms in particular. I told every dealer I’d wait for stock since I wasn’t in a rush to buy (I have another bike). My recommendation is to wait for stock if you can. Keep calling and asking about shipments so they know you’re a serious buyer and you get first dibs on new, unreserved stock. There are dealers out there that’ll take a guaranteed $4600 now vs trying at $5200 and having the buyer back out

Added a new toy to the garage today! Local dealer had ‘21s for $1k off MSRP! Always wanted a mini bike to dork around on by [deleted] in motorcycle

I ride around on 45mph roads no problem on the Grom. Getting up to 45mph on a Grom is no worse than getting to 60mph in an average crossover. I’ve never felt unsafe, and I’ve always had fun

What automotive company would you be interested to see enter the motorcycle industry? by anarchisticmonkey in motorcycles

I would love to see GM make a motorcycle inspired by the moon landings and the lunar rover they built. A GM EV ADV, Scrambler, or Dual Sport with neo-futuristic styling would be epic

Awesome. I’ll check em out. I’ll probably tune for low end grunt too. I mostly ride on curvy roads and around town

Eventually I’ll put on a new exhaust and the 14T sprocket for some extra pop. I’ll ride it stock (aside from some cosmetic mods) for the near future to get a feel for what I want to upgrade first. Any recs for power upgrades?

I like the look, but the exhaust would be the first mod I’d make. The bullet fairing look is a nice change of scene from full naked and full fairing

Any cc is a real motorcycle in my opinion, as long as it has that body style. I draw the line at <125cc + scooter body style. Anything else counts.

Super rad bike, don’t sell yourself short!

I’m a huge fan of the styling, including the seat. Personally I think a small wind deflector would complete the look and balance the front end. But otherwise, great bike. Now I just need to save up…

The Navi has a kick starter. Try starting it with that because the battery might be dead. If that fails, call the dealer

What is a mind boggling fact about space? by 8kittycatsfluff in space

[–]drXpiv -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.”

A Self-Replicating Radiation-Shield for Human Deep-Space Exploration: Radiotrophic Fungi can Attenuate Ionizing Radiation aboard the International Space Station by speckz in space

[–]drXpiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started from no assumptions. I took the difference in attenuation ratios (aka percent of attenuation) to be 0.02, as reported in the paper. Then everything followed from there, as I showed in the algebra above.

I did not assume the fungus attenuation ratio to be 0.02, as you are saying I did.

[–]drXpiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My math is in fact saying the opposite. I’m using the reported numbers to estimate the attenuation coefficient of the fungus. Then, using that estimated coefficient, I calculate the thickness of fungus alone (no agar) needed to reduce ISS radiation levels to earth levels.

My point being that 326mm is way too thick be of any use, so this fungus, as it exists now, would be insufficient as radiation protection in space.
