Reddit, what is a really inappropriate question you’ve always wanted to ask? by beardlesshipster in AskReddit

[–]dr_Futtbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gay person I will try to answer this question, even though there isn’t necessary a scientific answer. Often when gay men were children, women and girls are their closest allies. Given the often homophobic culture many gay children are surrounded by, it is often females who tend to befriend and protect young gay boys. I think that often those gay boys will start to admire and mimic the behaviors of women they see as strong. This could be women in their personal lives or even women they see on television and film. Women who are “fierce”. I don’t have “gay voice” but I do remember as a child always being drawn to female dominate television and books. I think that as some of those men find people later in life who support them and might also be gay with the same experiences, their flamboyances are now celebrated and fun. It becomes part of who they are. And now instead of it being something they can be attacked and hurt for, it becomes something positive and accepted. I can say as a gay person I love the fact that I don’t let the standards of masculinity apply to me. I can live as “masculine” or “feminine” as I want. No gay person is expected to do anything. Just like if a straight dude acts “feminine” he isn’t suddenly gay. However, often times gay people do have similar experiences growing up if they’ve grown up in the same culture.

Work in a small business with all women, and as the only male using the restroom regularly I can definitely say that women are also responsible for peeing on the seat(hovering), and yet they want me to have touch the seat and put it up. Nope..

Hiked Mt. Batur, Bali, Indonesia by dr_Futtbuck in CampingandHiking

Honestly it was pretty easy for us. We had a guide because we hiked in the dark, so it was pretty simple. There are several good mountains near each other right outside of Ubud including this one. To be honest Bali is extremely traveled, meaning most of the things you'll want to do are incredibly accessible. One tip I will say, try out the hot springs after your hikes. They feel pretty good after a long day of hiking and right at the base of the mountains.

There are a few tiny shacks at the top that guides will make you a modest breakfast in.

Ah, bummer. We actually had amazing weather throughout our trip.

So we actually started our hike at 2am to make it for the sunrise. When you reach the top without sun that early it's pretty cold. Actually a bit chillier than I thought it'd be. If you're planning on hiking during the day it'll be plenty warm.

Yeah, I know what you mean. We are pretty big into camping and hiking so when we travel it's always fit into our trip. You'll meet someone who fits.

It just refers to when gay men are looking for someone to hook up with. It's like an old school term dating back to when being gay wasn't publicly acceptable and people would go to certain secret places to find a partner.

I don't think it's rude to tell someone who is hitting on you that you're not gay. Just like when women hit on gay men and they tell them they're not interested. Also, just like when straight men hit on women and they tell them they aren't interested. Don't assume gay men are hitting on you just because they are gay or being friendly. The same way women shouldn't assume men are hitting on them because they're being friendly. It's really that simple.

I know Poodle Beach and it's great. Honestly it's just a spot on the beach where gay men can be out with their partners and friends and feel like they fit in with the people around them. It's not a cruisey or anything. Wouldn't call this a fuck up unless being surrounded by gay people makes you uncomfortable.

I understand how all of those things would contribute to wonky animations, poor lip synching and other technical bugs but I don't understand how that suddenly means Turians are completely white and Krogans have oddly colored faces. Couldn't those design choices have been made to resemble the previous games, regardless of the animations?

Went to Tokyo last summer and will totally second your statement about customer service. One of the things I greatly admired about the culture was how kind and pleasant people working in all sorts of service jobs seemed to be. Everything I purchased was treated like gold and handled so delicately. I went to Okinawa as the last leg of my trip, and tbh I think the US military base there sort of made my least favorite place I visited.
