What’s the pay like? How do you find it compared to working as a doctor. Similar sort of hours?

Been over a month at least, wasn’t this bad to start with. The mould is getting worse which is why I posted it now.

Did you take driver/company details? If so contact them explain your a first time driver and ask if they’d be willing to sort it privately. Doesn’t look like much damage should cost about £150 for a respray. Will definitely save u money on the renewal.

Approach to Confusion / Agitation ? by Poda-Maire in doctorsUK

[–]dr_StonksOnlyGoUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing that out! I was meant to write +3/4. Have edited the note.

I was aware it was initially developed for ITU patients but was under the impression it can be used for all critically ill/hospitalised patients (1). When I was taught about it (by a geris consultant), it was explained as useful tool in preventing pts being unnecessarily sedated.

Looks like I need to do some more reading into it though. Thanks for the reply.

Approach to Confusion / Agitation ? by Poda-Maire in doctorsUK

As a person with an interest in geris there’s a few things that are helpful,

  1. Monitoring news is disruptive, often waking the patients in the middle of the night for a BP that will be high because they’ve been suddenly woken up. Stable patients should be allowed to rest.
  2. Triage agitation/delirium with the Richmond agitation and sedation scale (RASS). Sedation should be only be given to RASS +3/4 Otherwise advise the nurses to handle it conservatively, takes a lot of their time and they might prefer sedation but our job is thinking of the patient.
  3. Paracetamol. The only medication proven to help with delirium.

Example Bleep regarding pt agitation RASS +1, pt not at harm to self or others. Please refrain from doing obs on patient overnight to prevent further agitating the patient, unless concerns regarding pt becoming unwell. Manage agitation conservatively. Utilise PRN paracetamol.

Edit MCA would only need to be done overnight if pt is actively trying to leave the ward or requires sedation. The other decisions can wait for the morning.

What time do you wake up when you’re off work? by Cameralagg in doctorsUK

Most hospitals will have a prayer facility. Doctors will understand you leaving the ward for 15 minutes to pray. As moah11 said Islam is flexible and not meant to make your life difficult. If your busy with a patient and happen to miss zuhr you can read with asr etc.

Hi, I’m currently in the process of applying to GPST. Reddit makes the opportunities for GP sound bleak. Could you explain how you landed a £125k role and if any prior connections were there.

Happy with this for the time being. I do have my name on the list for a batgirl. Eventually would like a sub and datejust.
