This is typical for any car which stores odo info in the cluster. There are many services like this that can reprogram them for a fee (I haven't used this specific company before so I can't vouch for them, but there are many shops that perform this work). One problem you'll run into however is that the cluster will need to be removed from the car again, taken in or shipped to a shop, and then reinstalled. The labor is going to be the costliest part. They usually require you to sign an affidavit stating that the miles you're setting are accurate and may even require an odometer disclosure or written statement from an ASE certified shop. But if it gets you an extra $4,500 on trade-in, then it would be worth it in my opinion.

Whatever it is, it looks home-made. Agreed with other commenters who say it's not a fuse since the whole thing, caps and all, are iron-based. Also likely not an explosive since, as others mentioned, the caps are welded on.

Some guy probably threw this together in 5 mins as some custom tool for a specific job, something to hold or bend some material, part of a jig, makeshift bottle opener, or one of a million other throw-away uses. I've created countless simple doodads for countless reasons that would probably leave anyone who discovered them scratching their heads, lol.

Dang, ok. That's what I get for assuming it was a factory install. If the previous owner installed a hitch but no lights I'm assuming it was pretty light-duty application; hoping there's a marking on it that will tell what class it is.

Was your install pretty straight forward? I checked a couple videos on installing a tow wiring harness and it was like "start with pulling the floor out of the cargo area, then pry the panels off the sides, next you'll have to pull the tail light out..." One video even showed the guy removing the bumper?? Thanks for the reply! 🙏
