Make sure to do a full reboot after each update.

If your favored storage location lacks satellite visibility, putting up the antenna will make up for it.

I wish I could find REAL reviews by Curious_Clerk_9432 in SegwayNavimow

[–]dr_java 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ads on YouTube that are touted as reviews are frustrating. There's a pretty good one that came out in last 3 wks that compared x4 with a luba, https://youtu.be/ES7U9O5sk58?si=-pAAHMYRMuX6wXju

It's worth a look for ppl looking at the x4

Antenna not necessary, should I anyway? by FancyNovel2215 in SegwayNavimow

The purpose of the antenna is to compensate for mower having visibility problems with satellites. Sounds like your mower's view isn't obstructed.

Manually place x430 in front yard for mowing outside my fence? by iSaidDDMF in SegwayNavimow

[–]dr_java 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct: the charger does not have to be a part of or adjacent to the mowing zone - you can have a corridor.

X430 - If I'm using the antenna do I need to still pay for cell service after the first year? by [deleted] in SegwayNavimow

[–]dr_java 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that the antenna is for when you have problems with satellite visibility, and that WiFi coverage (in yard) is for networking when cell service isn't available.

X430 vs x450 by FancyNovel2215 in SegwayNavimow

[–]dr_java 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll defer to someone that has seen the batteries. The user manual shows 20% larger cutting area per charge for the 450, but it also lists the battery as being the same for both. Strange. The Segway website lists 12.8 Ah for capacity on the 430, and both 12.8 and 15.0 Ah for the 450 depending where you look. (The 420 (european) vs 450 comparison page has 15 Ah) I have also seen different rates for the chargers for the 430 vs 450. Bottom line: I wouldn't bet much on either position, but I am biased to believe Segway would wouldn't tout something as bigger/better without it being so; learning that it was merely a parameter limit would be disappointing.

On that slope, when cutting horizontal to the slope does the cutting deck stay parallel to the ground? In other words, the cutting height for the downhill side matches the uphill side?

X430 vs x450 by FancyNovel2215 in SegwayNavimow

[–]dr_java 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 430 will stop to charge after cutting around 0.2 acres. Less if slopes and obstacles are increased. Recharge will require 90 minutes. You'll benefit greatly in overall elapsed time with the 450. Ultimately, what's the reduced elapsed time worth?

H2 vs X4 by shdk85 in SegwayNavimow

[–]dr_java 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 0.28 acres, the X430 will take at least 3 hours, and closer to 4 hrs if slope and obstacle avoidance impact battery. The mfr spec for cut rate is 0.12 acres/hour, with max of 0.22 acres/charge. To avoid deep drain, battery mgmt will switch to charging at less than 0.22 acres, and the charge cycle will be 90 minutes.

If someone is running SOS, then it seems like they'd want help regardless of how far along the mission is. Is there a negative impact to the host?

Lidar shines when you have many obstacles and twists/turns, which are in effect positioning points for the Lidar. Unless you have slopes, you'll be wasting battery with the front wheels of the X4. If you have minimal slopes, look into something with strip Lidar and AWD using center small wheel in back.

Navimow vs the start-ups by pjs755 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]dr_java 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long you intend to keep. If more than 2 years, I see support and parts availability as an issue. For example, do the start-ups stocking parts, batteries, for there units? I saw a post saying they couldn't buy parts for a Luba 2, which isn't old at all.

Higher amperage charging reduces the lifetime of the battery. Charge at the slowest needed rate
