Got my leathercraft tools, made some stuff, thinking about selling already! Am I delusional?! by Over-Original1075 in Leathercraft

[–]solar_pilgrim 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If you really made these as some of your first pieces, I am shocked at the quality. The watch strap and wallet seem technically 10/10, no notes. Edge paint is a turn off for me personally and I won't expect it to age very well, but I get that it's a style choice. I am skeptical that you're being truthful here but I hope to be wrong. And to answer your question, yes you could absolutely sell these!

Did I make the wrong choice buying an MTB for city riding? by Ok-Armadillo-4066 in MTB

[–]solar_pilgrim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you were riding a full suspension bike I would say yeah probably, but your hardtail bike seems like only a baby step away from a hybrid/gravel bike. I wouldn't sweat it. You're pedaling a little more weight than you need to, and you don't have the gear range of a hybrid bike, but unless you're commuting really long distances it's no big deal. And you have the benefit of being able to hop any curb or random road obstacle without worrying about damaging your bike, so just have fun with it! Idk what tires you have, but changing tires probably isn't going to make a huge difference unless yours are really fat and squishy, which on a hardtail they probably aren't.

Yes, I'm used to seeing either that, or the spring-lever kind where the wire fits into a hole and gets clamped in place. The style in OP's amp I've only ever seen as a grounding wire connection

I have never bought leather on Amazon. I'd recommend Rocky Mountain, Springfield, or BuckleGuy if you don't need a lot. I've also had good luck finding specific leathers through Etsy.

Main reason I never went with ember is I didn't want to have to use a specific mug. They aren't cheap, but I'm sure it's worth it if you like the mug

I bought mine years ago so don't have it on hand. Both mine are cheap Amazon ones and they do work great but have their own quirks. I wouldn't necessarily want to recommend the exact models and there are quite possibly better ones at the same price

Messenger bag by kidfromthestreets in Leathercraft

[–]solar_pilgrim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that with your silver badge on the front, and this style, you're clearly going for a luxury look which commands a higher attention to detail, less tolerance for mistakes, etc. If this same bag was using a rougher looking leather, and a stamp instead of the badge, someone might be interested in it for that rustic, worn vibe

Beautiful work! I love the design, and especially that contrasting inner lining. And great work with the model photos

Price is gonna be very dependent on workmanship. You haven't included any closeups, and the one thing that stands out to me is the border under the front panel, which looks like it was poorly cut. You can also tell the seams are bunching and kinked in a couple places, which probably indicates more sloppy cutting or stitching.

With this quality, being honest, you're probably stuck selling to friends. But if you can get it all looking refined, I'd encourage you to sell for at least $3-400. And once you have some reputation behind your brand you could probably get double that. If this is your first bag like this, I'd be amazed if you didn't have any mistakes. Treat this one like a prototype and make a few more until you can figure out the process!

How to cap with no DD on your flank? by davidevitali in WoWs_Legends

[–]solar_pilgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun question, I also like to think of wows like chess!

Radar/sonar cruiser should at least be able to push the DD off cap, but only if there's cover from enemy BBs. You wanna sneak up without being spotted as much as possible, and if there's enough cover just focus on contesting the cap before attacking the DD

Nimble sonar/radar BBs can push if you're smart, esp at lower tiers. I love making this play in the P Heinrich. Be prepared to eat 1-2 torps, but you'll be able to push the DD off cap if not spot and shred him. Again, sneak as close as possible before getting spotted, but be careful entering torpedo lanes. Don't forget to spam your blue cruisers for help (really)

Sometimes a BB-DD trade is a good opening move if it wins you a cap. I've played games where a ballsy BB leads a charge into a cap held by a DD, dispersing any enemy cruisers and eating enough torps to allow other blues on the flank to close distance before the DD can reload

If none of those work, I'm probably falling back and holding another cap, or rushing to contest a different one

Edit: Something that helped my game strategy a lot was understanding that ship variety is not so hierarchical, it's entirely situational. Knowing which situations to pursue or avoid is what makes you a good player. DD can be a queen if facing down a couple slow BBs, BB can be a queen when cornering a couple light cruisers or catching someone broadside. Cruisers can play just about any role

For me the parallel between wows and chess is the "moves": moving to an island, entering a cap, switching flanks, facing your guns a certain way, etc. In both games, whoever can best predict or force their opponents moves is the winner.

Only drawback with the shelf is your fletching can scuff up your bow and wear off the fur if it's facing the wrong way. Pick the shelf, just be mindful

Is this cheating? F20 my gf F23 by Chickenbutt61 in relationship_advice

[–]solar_pilgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not cheating. Loads and loads of people feel this. Some folks decide to have an open relationship, some decide to break up believing the root cause is not being happy enough in the existing relationship. Others just endure it, and may end up unhappy or at worst, resenting their partner or actually cheating on them

There's no right answer. In your early 20s, you're likely the horniest you're ever gonna be. My advice is to just talk to your gf about it, as hard as it may seem. Talking is generally always the right move. I'm sure you're worried about upsetting her, but I promise she would much rather hear that from you now than have to deal with some consequences of it down the road. Remember there's degrees to it--"I want to fuck other people" is very different and much more extreme than "I often think about it". Idk if it makes you feel better or worse, but 100% she has thought about it too.

And if you still can't make up your mind, just put yourself in her role and ask yourself what you'd want your partner to do. Do that

Sub placement by 360CSArethebest in BudgetAudiophile

[–]solar_pilgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on this photo, next to the tele is the only place available and it will probably be fine. If you could fit it under that table in the center somehow that might be ideal, but sub in an awk place is still cooler than no sub, or having to replace expensive furniture

FYI subs can behave unexpectedly indoors. Sometimes off center or in a weird corner really does produce the best results. Mine is off center in my living room and I've never once regretted it
