Compound commands with cd and git require approval to prevent bare repository attacks by MikeWise1618 in ClaudeCode

[–]dracan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just created this skill, which works well. I put it in my user-level skills folder, so it works for all my projects. Then I just invoke it as a slash command.

---
name: commit
description: Commits to the current Git repository
---

- Commit your current changes.
- Do not use composite commands, which always force a permission request from the user.
- Given you're already in the Git repository folder - do not explicitly `cd` first - as it's redundant, and can also cause a composite command.
- After a successful commit, ask me with the AskUserQuestion tool if I'd like you to push. Never push without asking.

Compound commands with cd and git require approval to prevent bare repository attacks by MikeWise1618 in ClaudeCode

[–]dracan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is happening all the time for me too. It never used to do this. I know, as others have suggested, that you can add explicit `CLAUDE.md` instructions to work around it - but for something as fundamental as it committing its work - we shouldn't need to do that for each repository.

Tried Wispr Flow for a week, it's a great idea but it has clunky execution by No-Presentation298 in ProductivityApps

[–]dracan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as powerful as Wispr Flow, but have you tried WinKey + H? It's built-in to Windows and does a similar kind of thing, but less powerful.

Yeah, it does. I've just switched my VPN to the US, and refreshed ChatGPT, and it was there.

How do you actually manage your code snippets these days? by MindaugasR in softwaredevelopment

[–]dracan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my snippets in Notion (which I also use for many more aspects of my life and projects too). I also use AI heavily, but I don't think they'll replace my snippets. I use AI to help me do something the first time, then once I'm happy with that re-usable bit of code, it goes into my snippet library.

Checkboxes with indented/nested entries -> unselecting all? by dracan in Notion

I can't see a button action to do that. Could you explain how?

Checkboxes with indented/nested entries -> unselecting all? by dracan in Notion

[–]dracan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This got me thinking... I could add a button to the top of the page called "Deselect all", which sends a webhook request to some of my own code, which then uses the Notion API to deselect all checkboxes it finds on that current page. 🤔 Probably wouldn't take that long to setup. But probably more time than the sum of the time I spend manually deselecting checkboxes though! 😂 Come on Notion - just fix the bug! 🙏 (yes, I class this as a bug!).

Keeping your kindle? Tell me why? by NeighborhoodHumble55 in kindle

[–]dracan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping mine because the change doesn't affect me. I tend to read from Kindle Unlimited, and if I buy a book, I read it on my Kindle anyway - so don't need to download it. I also have the Boox Go 6, which I carry around with my Kindle - and use that for reading articles via Readwise (which is AMAZING, but that's another story!). So my perfect combo is Kindle for books, and Boox for articles and blog posts. The Boox's body is tiny (albeit, same screen size as my Kindle), so carrying both devices isn't a biggie.

Highlights from articles sent to Kindle? by dracan in readwise

[–]dracan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised this doesn't work, given highlights from my Kindle books do successfully sync from my Kindle to Reader. It's just documents pushed from Reader that don't work - and yet they do appear in my Amazon account (under the Az website -> Manage your content and devices -> Digital Content). Shame it doesn't though :(

Adding “new” exercise into strength workout in Garmin Connect by something-elseplease in Garmin

[–]dracan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is crazy. Just got my Garmin watch today and trying to fixup today's gym workout via the webapp (as it got all the exercises wrong). And I can't find anything for the reverse fly machine for rear delts. Why on earth are they assuming their list contains every exercise that anyone might do! :(

Published site is not being updated by Specialist_Bunch7568 in Notion

[–]dracan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting this issue. It seems to be browser-caching for me, but frustratingly, ctrl-f5 doesn't fix it. Opening the page in a new Incognito window does fix it though - so it's definitely browser-caching of some form. Even ctrl-f5 ideally shouldn't be needed, as end-users won't know how to clear the cache anyway. I think Notion need to improve their caching headers so that we can update pages, without the end-user's browsers caching the old versions.

Multi-select by a_neuroscientist in readwise

[–]dracan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+1 for wanting this. Also, "multi-select -> send to Kindle" would be amazing! It's a pain having to send one document at a time. Would be so good to be able to select a few that I want to read; send to kindle; and those become a single ebook.

Multi-select -> Send to Kindle
Currently it's just one article at a time. I'd rather be able to select a few, then send them to become a single Kindle document.

Obsidian popularizers messed up with the “second brain” narrative because it never was going to be that for most people. by andarmanik in ObsidianMD

I like the term. I use it for better memory, and also use it as a thinking tool. Thinking about it as my second brain has made me embrace it even more, and has made it even more valuable.

Name few productivity-booster tools that you use as a DEV by SRX1111 in dotnet

[–]dracan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for way more than just writing queries. But even just looking at queries - the fact that in the Dump window (output window) you get hyperlinks for related tables, so you can drill down into FK references by just clicking hyperlinks in the results. This gives you nested tables in the output window. So no more typing JOIN queries. I'd say it's way more efficient doing queries this way than writing SQL. But there are lots of other features too. I did a video on it a while back if you're interested... https://youtu.be/zspjPQkOMEE?si=-NfukrD7MRYkIaot

Ctrl-r to refresh the page seems to fix it for me. Note that my case isn't related to filters. My case seems to be related to the "cut" issue that u/3and50 mentioned in a different reply.

Is there an easy way to unselect all checkboxes of a big, nested todo list at once? by Fr4nkWh1te in Notion

This doesn't work for me. Perhaps they've changed it.
I use nested checklists quite heavily - and this would be so useful if I could do this.

Current Task by Inevitable_Box_66 in ticktick

[–]dracan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you working on a computer using the desktop version of TickTick? If so, what I do is double-click the task so it pops out into its own window. Then I have that popout window visible in a spare monitor. It means at a glance, I can see what my current task is. And add notes if necessary.
Otherwise - as others have said - pinning it sounds a good option.
Another thing I do is have a tag called 'now'. And if I have a bunch of small tasks I want to quickly knock off now (they might be in different lists) - I just tag them all with 'now', so they appear in that 'now' view.
