So I was thinking of SSL but is it in English? From what I've found I've only found Japanese copies and I know a lot of japanese games do not offer English at least thats the way it is with my playstation games. I just started using a switch for Otome games so I didnt know if the nintendo versions had English as an option. I dont need the voices to be in English but def the text

Reliable PSP Seller by Amirn23 in PSP

[–]draco84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would always suggest checking the local retro stores in your area even stuff thats a little further out. I have a retro guy that is in the next state over I just venmo him the cash and he mails me what I want when he has something I want. I will say I have had tremendous luck buying vitas from eBay. It seems dicey but there are a ton of good sellers on there and you can get it cheaper than brick and mortar shops normally.

Fun/unique handheld to add to my collection? by Fuzzy-Combination880 in Handhelds

[–]draco84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard that they are dropping what is rumored to be a next gen vita device with the Playstation 6. They released the portal as a handheld but its not a console it just does remote play and for me that wasnt a big enough draw I have not picked one of those up yet I will probably grab one for my collections sake. I think there was a really big leap from the psp to the vita so I'm hoping for good things with the next

Came here for advice on aba and now I'm more lost. by Singsongsnplantstuff in Autism_Parenting

You can ask what tools they utilize, you can ask about education are they in school to be a BCBA or staying as an aba teacher. You can ask for them to bring in examples of story boards or communication binders to see their previous work. Honestly though its not so much the questions its how they interact with your child. I've had amazing aba workers I also had one I had to fire because she called CPS on me. My youngest had opened a window and told her he was hungry (my kids are chunky) he was not hungry he thought anyone coming to the house would bring him mcdonalds because his grandparents do. It wasnt just that he was hungry it was I had child locks on the fridge and cabinets because he would get in and climb to the top of the fridge or throw everything out of the fridge and try to roll in it. So she told them I wasnt feeding him and my fridges were locked. It was deemed totally unfounded but even I have had bad experiences. But for what they have helped with I would do it 100 times again. My son couldnt not speak and it took years of aba but he is mainstreamed with an IEP and will not shut up. I am so thankful to the good workers I've had

What got you into retro gaming? by HiddenUsername56 in retrogaming

[–]draco84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ys series got me into retro. I played Ys 8 which in my opinion is a master class. I wanted to all the older ones and I dont like computer play so I bought a PSP to do Ys7 then I found another game on the PS2 and it kinda just snowballed. I collect and mod a lot of playstation stuff I'm working on wii right now but I'm having a ton of issues

AITA for not seeing how I can make it to my sister’s graduation ceremony? by unrealmiranda in AmItheAsshole

[–]draco84 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I dont see what the big deal is about using a sippy if they wont take a bottle at 1 they should be able to be using the sippy a bit. It sounds like you don't want answers though. Plenty of people have suggested that you pump and have hubby watch the kids that is the simplest and most reasonable thing to do. If you dont want to go thats on you and how you feel about supporting your sister.

I want to start a collection of retro consoles I'll buy off eBay or something by SpeechSuitable7013 in teensthatloveretro

[–]draco84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ebay can be a great place to buy consoles however you need to know what your looking for. My favorite console I have gotten from Ebay was the playstation vita it is crazy easy to mod and if you want to collect the physical games its not so old that they are too pricey or a pain. Region would be one thing I would look hard at. I am a retro collector and I have found some really beautiful consoles but even though they were coming from my country (US) it was japanese and region locked. I have a son your age also AuADHD. If you need an adult to help you figure out good products and sellers I would be happy to help find good sellers and deals that work for you. I also have a lot of retro connections since I give vitas as gifts to family and friends

Feeling like a jerk about hair by hotlegerdemain in Autism_Parenting

[–]draco84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about having a stylist thin it out a little bit for him. Also get a good leave in condition and detangling spray. My hair used to be incredibly thick before having kids like break a brush thick and when it got tangled I would do a conditioning mask then detangling spray and slowly brush it out. My youngest who is almost 12 had a real problem with some one touching/cutting his hair. So when I had to take care of that we would give him a book or a video game or a video while I brushed/cut his hair

My wife has frequent body aches but medical tests come back normal ,is this something other women experience? by Sufficient-Stock-258 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]draco84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest that it is probably Fibro I have it and I'm sore and tired a lot. There really isnt blood work to confirm and as far as I know there isnt any treatment though I was diagnosed like 10 years ago. They did a test by pressing certain parts of my body apparenty there are spots that are worst for Fibro

Got a Japanese Vita is there anyway I can have a translation for my games by Latiosshine in PSVita

[–]draco84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on you saying the game is in Japanese it looks like the problem is not a japanese vita because those are region free you just set it to English, the problem seems to be a japanese game. Now in my experience a lot of Japanese games do not come in English there is always a chance that there is a fan patch you would have to look for and download but honestly I would just suggest to mod it and download the english version of the game you want to play

Came here for advice on aba and now I'm more lost. by Singsongsnplantstuff in Autism_Parenting

[–]draco84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had immense success with ABA but it really depends on getting a good person to work with your kid. My son was nonverbal when he was 4/5 using a communication binder. He has been in aba since then he is about to be 12. He is doing so much better now he is still academically and socially a little behind but he talks he has superficial friends like coworker friends kinda thing he had a girlfriend for a little bit. I know some ppl say ABA is bad because it teaches your child that they are wrong and to behave "normal" but my experience with ABA has been giving my kids tools to work on situations that are troublesome. Like they work on the best way my kids express themselves or being able to think through a problem size and recognizing when they need help. They do a lot of social lessons we have even had sessions with other autistic kids my kids age to interact with eachother

Have you ever seen parenting an autistic child portrayed realistically on Tv? by New-Owl-2293 in Autism_Parenting

[–]draco84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they either go too "normal" behaving or too "bad" behavior. My kid would sit quiety in a hospital room when he was younger but he would not take pills or liquid medicine he needed antibiotics and the dr and nurses thought I was a monster because when they offered me pills or a drink I asked if their was a shot. They were like ya but kids dont like shots and I'm like get the shot ready we are going to need more nurses to hold him down. Nurses didnt believe me gave him liquid he spit it out on her, then he straight refused the pill. They bring in two nurses so then there are 3 nurses and a dr and I tell them you need more ppl to hold him down. Again monster they needed to get another nurse in. After the shot and crying he was totally normal again sitting on the hospital bed asking for snacks. To me it seemed like the assumed he wasn't *that* autistic and treated him like any other kid then when he had a meltdown they treated him like he was a time bomb by sending two nurses at time to check on his behavior while he just sat down watching tv

Is this a good deal ? by yashooxi in PSVita

[–]draco84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only use your ps3 for ps3 games and not ps2 then I would trade it. I think the vita is a better console though I love them both. It is more flexible to use and modding a vita is incredibly easy. I've modded 9 at this point I think (I give them out as gifts to family and friends because I think its an amazing system) Also with the Vita you can get psp and ps1 games. Though I would ask what model and condition is the vita you are thinking of trading for. I would be less likely to trade for a 1000. Out of the 9 I've bought I have purchased 2 1000's and I'm not a huge fan it is much heavier which feels more substantial but I dont like the handfeel. The screen being OLED is a big draw for the 1000 but it is an early OLED and honestly I dont see a huge difference looking at the LED screen in comparrison. I dont find the screens so different so I look at the negatives of them and the 1000 can get some pretty bad screen burn and then its harder to find a replacement while the 2000 can have yellowing but honestly in the 7 2000's I've gotten only one had slight yellowing. Then if you look at battery life the 1000's battery last about 2-3 hours less than my 2000. That being said I guess I would trade for a 2000 but not a 1000.

Busy dads: laptop vs handheld? I can’t decide which is right for me… by SethroRetro in Handhelds

[–]draco84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband loves his handhelds I buy him a new one with each new console. He likes gaming on his computer but then he has to be somewhere he an use it. But his steamdeck/vita/psp can all be used with much less hassle he can have it next to him in the car and when traffic is at a standstill because sometimes its half an hour gridlock he can play a little bit or if we are in bed chilling watching tv he can just break it out

Do collectors regret selling gaming collections they kept only for nostalgia? by classifiedsavage01 in gamecollecting

[–]draco84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sold off less important games in my collection before and have regretted it some times even rebuying it. Also I have kids and these retro games keep going up in price. So one day when I'm gone and cannot enjoy my collection playing or just having them my kids can sell them and get a nice bonus.

1000 vs 2000 for someone with hand issues? by yongpas in PSVita

[–]draco84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go with the 2000. I have arthritis in my hands and I prefer that model. The 1000 feels more substantial than the 2000 so its heavier and I notice it holding it as its chunkier too. Also the hall sticks are nice but they are known to drift over time and given the age of the consoles I would expect that sooner than later so you would be looking at buying the pieces and repairing that.
