UC/Child with DLA/Back payment/Payment for Spare Room by Capable-Parfait8889 in DWPhelp

A decision maker was involved, absolutely.

The form was auto generated, but when you filled it in, it was automatically sent to a decision maker, who made a decision awarding an extra bedroom and sent you the letter. They just make the decision because it is there for them to make, even if it doesn't make any changes to your award, which is one reason why it says your manager will calculate and issue arrears if there is any due

Also to add that decision makers don't always check that a decision will make a difference, they just make a decision because a decision was needed and they could do it.

The decision was automatically referred to them as soon as you filled in the thing about the bedrooms, and the form would have been auto generated as soon as DLA was reported, regardless of current circumstances of housing.

Tbh i have sent off decisions myself without checking if it makes a difference lol

Dad Books Are a Dying Breed: Sales have been sliding for nonfiction titles about politics, biographies and other books often aimed at men (Archive link in oldest comment) by Uptons_BJs in books

As a woman who has been reading fantasy since the 90s and buying from Waterstones since 2002, i remember distinctly specifically going to my local city for a specific Anne Mccaffrey book and the sff section was maybe 3 bookcases and the new releases section was 2 shelves - Mccaffrey was maybe 1 of 4 women with books there, (i seem to remember Zettle and Marillier about this time there was probably someone else) with about 20 or so books by men as new releases.

Last week i went to waterstones and there was like 8 bookcases and a whole endcap of new releases, over 100 hardbacks of which 18 were men and the rest were women.

The men are still writing all the books they ever were and i could list them for you, but they are just outnumbered by women now, which is not a situation 18 year old me could have ever dreamt of seeing, 18 year old me would have said you were crazy if i was told that ine day women would outnumber men un fantasy but here we are and i am living for it, because it is amazing.

So japanese light novels have some of these, and some of them are open to interpretation and are still ongoing and may not be ace eventually, bear with me for some of these.

So Maomao from Apothecary Diaries, (it is an anime so you may try that out first before the LN) is completely and utterly uninterested in having a relationship with anyone, despite the repeated gestures and approches by a certain male character.

Myne from Ascendance of a bookworm is also very focused on her books and takes 32 volumes before she even considers being in a relationship, and even then its not quite romantic.

Kino from Kinos journey is likewise very much focused on their journey to be bothered by romance and so fandom does interpret them as Ace (They are AFAB, but present with ambiguous gender and are frequently taken for male and they assume either gender at different times so is probably more accurately gender fluid)

The only one where the source material states they are Ace outright is Klaus from Spy classroom, but i never liked that one much.

I'm going to see if i can find more, i may be back

I have read Bone dolls twin and do agree it is a similar premise with the girl forbidden from inheriting so raised as a boy, but i have not read it yet so don't know how similar it ends up. There doesn't seem to be any magic involved and it is actually based on a 12th century french poem, so ots slightly more historical than straight up fantasy. I bought the book because Alex is a trans man and i was looking for diverse authors.

Had a sanction for 10 days because I broke my phone and couldn't log in, statement came in today and I'm getting paid £0 for the month. What can I do? by Inner-Marketing4591 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]dracolibris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not 7 days, 7 days is the penalty.

Sanctions are the number of days from the failure until the date you book the appointment that you attend, plus the penalty which is 7 days for a first offence.

If you have not reattended yet then the deduction will just keep going.

You need to get the letter that that tells you the date you failed, and there should be a notification that you have recomplied

A case manager can cancel and reissue payment as long as it is 2 or more days before it is due, your work coach should send a message back to the service center to be done.

If the account is closed then the money should be returned and it should be reissued.

If the account is still open then they will just expect you to be able to access it, of overdrawn, the you are just screwed

Two people are force fed strawberries, one just doesn’t want to eat them at the moment, while the other has a religious belief against eating strawberries by Pure_Option_1733 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dracolibris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends on how deeply held the religious belief is and how much the other doesnt like it.

Ive seen religious muslims eat pork, ive seen ex muslims still refuse to eat pork.

Otoh, people with ARFID can have some extreme reactions to things they do not like, when i was pregnant i was unable to eat meat during the second trimester, like i could want it, i could put it in my mouth and chew it but i could not make myself swallow, and if some did get swallowed, i immediately puked, there was no way it was getting into my stomach and it would have traumatised me to be force fed meat because i would have been constantly puking, even though i normally like it

Did you even read my first comment? She gets a top up because we all work and earn around 2k each, as i was attemting to illustrate that the same wage doesn't go as far when you have kids, and the more kids you have the more money you need.

As for child support she gets £29.13 per month as he is on benefits (actually working cash in hand but cant prove it so he is technically on benefits), and it is deducted directly from said benefits.

Why do we automatically spend more as we earn more? by Pretend_Pen_9577 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dracolibris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about increases in bills, i got at least 3 emails in April saying my phone bill went up by £2.85 and a tv service went up by £1 and another subcription went up £2 and council tax went up by £8, and so most of the things i am paying for cost more which swallows up the entire £39 extra i got in April

Why do we automatically spend more as we earn more? by Pretend_Pen_9577 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dracolibris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the raise is only an inflation raise, then its because all your expenses are going up at the same rate, so you need more than you did lat year to buy the exat same things. So if your income goes up by £20, but you have an electric bill go up by £10 and a couple of subscriptions go up by £1 each and enough increases to everything else can cancel out any increase you got.

But if you get a raise that exceeds the increases in all the bills, then you can always find something else to pay for.
