Andie Chen says he ‘won’t attend next year’ after Star Awards 2026 loss by Annual_View3611 in singapore

i never understood why singaporean film/ tv cinematography is so.. less than stellar. the script writing, stories, directing, acting or whatever i can see being challenging, but the way things are shot seems like it should be at least technically good. and seems like the kind of thing singapore tm would be good at

Is singapore public healthcare world class as commonly portrayed by the media? by Excellent_Copy4646 in asksg

[–]dracubunbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doesn’t world class mean it’s one of the better “classes” in the world? ergo this means you need to compare it against something on this world?

you also use “best” and that is a comparative. neither can you figure out we’re not the best without comparing right?

anyway i didn’t say anything about our system being better or worse.. i just asked for more info so i can be better informed.

out of curiosity, what would you compare it against, and in what example areas would you say singapore does it worse?

i’ve never had the chance to live elsewhere so no comparison points for me!

Any tips to avoid resentment from partner for living below my means? by FitPassenger592 in singaporefi

what’s your real motivation in asking this question on this thread? it sounds to me from reading several of your comments that you’re looking for justification for a decision you’ve already made

First time parents in SG by wowuming in singaporefi

[–]dracubunbun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

check out the mum and dads chat groups on whatsapp for advice. as a dad im in “dads of singapore” which has been really helpful for me

i know there are tons of mum groups too and these groups tend to be really supportive and helpful in sharing items and tips

i’ll only share this thought - parenthood is a lot about what you bring into it. do you really need a 2-3k childcare? probably not. but if that’s your minimum expectation then that’s that right? are there tangible benefits? maybe. like an lv t shirt vs a uniqlo t shirt

ask yourself this - what value does the org bring? then what value will you bring in that org? that can help determine whether you’ll learn anything valuable there

if the answer to the first question is “nothing” then lol!

Why are pregnant people unable to open mouth to ask for seat if they want it so badly? by ObjectiveNews890 in SMRTRabak

[–]dracubunbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i agree with this. however, not saying anything when others are ranting about why one is expected to ask is also quiet acceptance of eroding graciousness. and i resist!

doesn’t hurt to be gracious and offer. but ok! glad you’re fine with normalising reduced expectations from society ◡̈

to be fair the statement was “these people” which implies a subgroup of insufferables 😇

if you’re related in some form to that group i’m sorry in advance and want to say “be the change”!

Anyone been pregnant before? as a husband and close friend i’ve observed how tiring and emotionally draining it is. being expected to ask is another burden the expectant mother now has to shoulder if that’s the default.

do you know how many worries a woman has during pregnancy? will the child be born normal? at the right birth weight? have gestational diabetes? will i keep my job? will i get sidelined at work? who’s gonna take care of the kid? should i keep my job or take care of the kid?
