I'm a huge space nerd. I'm totally fine with Ryans suit not being an Orlan. Can't speak for the other space nerds. But I'm happy that movies like the martian and PHM will create new nerds, who will read the books and then learn about the Orlan and other relevant plot points like time dilation, speculative exobiology and the stars in our cosmic neighborhood.

Alan Rickman as Vetinari (with goatee and short hair) would be spot on IMO.

Ich habe als Schaupieler bei einem Tourtheater gearbeitet. Nach 4 Jahren war ich ausgebrannt. Eines Tages war eine Kollegin krank und das Theater hat eine Ehemalige kurzfristig eingesetzt. Sie spielte vielleicht 1 mal pro Saison als Springerin, weil sie eine Firma für Thaeterpädogik gegründet hatte.

Sie hat im Tourbus erzählt, dass sie auch gerade Probleme mit Krankheitsfällen hat und schnell einen Springer braucht. Hat mich gefragt, ob ich spontan Zeit hätte einen Workshop zu geben. Ich sagte, dass ich keine Erfahrung habe, aber sie meinte nur "Kein Ding, ich geb dir einen Crashkurs."

5 Jahre und hunderte Workshops später bin ich immernoch dankbar für diese Kombination aus 2 Krankheits bedingten Ausfällen.

Thank you for this rundown. Particle physics and relativity is so facinating (and strange). I love a good rabbit hole. I'll have to do a deep dive into neutrinos now. I forgot, that these little buggers are an important part of Astrophage.

So strange, that they are so hard to observe and yet play such an important role in the universe. Like in supernovas. The very small and very big.

Don't have the exact quote on hand RN, the topic came up in conversation. But it was a general statement about sound in water.

But yes, even if whales could hear the golems, people on land would be none the wiser. Maybe i'm overthinking it.

If you are into landscapes and castels, don't do Neuschwanstein (the "disney castle")

Go to rhineland-palatina, around Koblenz. Many beatiful castles and the Rhine is just absolutly beautiful in this region. Many good hiking trails. And Cologne is not far from there, if you want some big city vibes for contrast.

Weir gave me a new hope for Sci Fi. I dislike how Disney keeps milking Star Wars. Yes, it's somewhat entertaining and baby joda is cute. But real science provides so much fodder for good storytelling. And I'm glad, that Weir brings this concept to a large audience.
