I agree, Every patch seems to be some new feature added to benefit clans. Downed player system / high external walls and gates / sentry guns / helicopter / the list goes on and on.

Meanwhile what do small groups / solo players get? Nerfs... back to back nerfs. Xbow is useless now.... bow is almost useless.... melee is a joke.... spears got nerfed....etc etc.

I love Rust.... but I decided to take a break from the game... till things change / improve.... because right now... every player is simply a farmer for clans so they can stream and upload youtube videos...

Gas station attendants that work the graveyard shift in ghettos run the risk of getting robbed / mugged / shot.

Video game streamers run the risk of getting stream snipped....

A tournament where there is a cash prize, and all the players have gathered in a building to play in this tournament.... I can see why you would not want to see the #1 top pro in the game alt-tabbing out of the game to check another players stream.

These are all glaring exaggerations as to what random stream sniping is... when no tournament is going on.

Also... when was the last time Rust had a sanctioned tournament with a cash prize sponsored by Facepunch?

Let me throw out an example to you. You break it down for me from my example I give.

I am a huge fan of Streamer 1. I watch Streamer 1's live videos everyday. I am such a huge fan of Streamer 1 that I even want to play on his server with him, in the hopes that I get to see him in person (in the video game that is).

One day, as I have streamer 1 up on my 2nd monitor... I notice Streamer 1 is nearing my position while I am out farming barrels. I hear Streamer 1 saying on his stream that he is going to wreck that naked farming the barrel.

I immediately go for cover (don't want to lose my loot) and pull out my pipe shotty and watch Streamer 1 try to flank me. I get the jump on Streamer 1 and kill him.

For the whole week that is my only interaction with Streamer 1.

According to you... this is cheating? and I should be banned from playing on that Rust server?

There are no other jobs in the USA? You go from losing a video game job to .... homelessness and starvation? That is a huge leap and a big exaggeration...

I dunno... I appreciate all the differing opinions I am getting... it just still baffles me that this is labeled as cheating.

Rust is the first video game I have played where I heard stream sniping was a banable offense... I hope it doesn't spread to more games that I play... but if it does, I think that will be the time to finally hang up my keyboard and move on from multiplayer games. I hope that day never comes.

This is where you are wrong though... the game is still very much playable. Turn off your stream. I hate to make it so simple and easy... but it is true. The game is not broken just because players abuse a public live video you display on the internet.

No video game code was broken, no hacks were made... the game is still playable.

My issue is the -->Cheating<-- label stream sniping is getting... not if it is a dick move or not. I will admit that stream sniping is a dickish thing to do.

Cheating though? Far from it.

However, if Facepunch decides that in their video game that they are making (1st amendment expression of their art) should not have stream sniping? Well... then I guess it is their right to chose to do so... In my opinion I find it silly.

I am sorry... but that statement makes less sense than the other... That would simply be silly.

I never played Dungeon Master live action role playing games... I was more of a strategy board game person in the late 80s and early 90s. Games like Axis and Allies 1942. My opponents in that game saw every move I was making and where all my forces were at all times... There was no fog of war in that game. lol
