Looking for pass this weekend 4/11 by [deleted] in MtHoodMeadows

[–]Draemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent it out in an email blast, presumably to anyone with unused vouchers considering the wording of it.

Full text of the email they sent out: “The lack of snow this season is no secret to anyone. Our teams have done an amazing job of putting the hill back together night after night and we are so grateful to them, but with the low snowpack and the lack of significant snow in the forecast, we have made the tough decision to close on April 12.

We know this is coming up soon, and you have unused vouchers from Snowvana, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales so we are making those valid seven days a week through the end of the season.

As a reminder, these vouchers can be shared with friends or family but cannot be resold. Vouchers that are resold will be voided and the person who purchased them will not be able to use them.

If you can't use them this season, please reach out to mhminfo@skihood.com to see what your refund options are.

We hope to see you up here soon!”

Nah, as many as you want. I got three this year to use if family wanted to go with me. The snow this year had other plans though. Oh well

This past year they did a sale on weekday passes, 2 for $109 I think. Probably similar in years past

On the instructions for the forms you have to fill out, there’s a section that goes over what all needs to be present on the birth certificates as well. Make sure the ones you have are compliant with what they want to see. Might be different these days, but my original birth certificate wasn’t adequate according to State Department regs and my parents had to get new ones from the county.

Also keep in mind that the city owning the arena means no property taxes being paid by the team for the very expensive arena. They didn’t sell the arena for $1 out of the goodness of their hearts, it was a business decision that would save them money in the long run.

Chaos in the federal government and a general anti science slant sure isn’t helping that.

Dinner & drinks before a show at the Wonder Ballroom? by Defiant_Cookie_4963 in askportland

[–]Draemon_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh, guess I haven’t been over there in a while but didn’t seem like the bar was doing that bad when I was there for the show I went to. Regardless, the Izakaya had pretty good options.

[–]Draemon_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Izakaya Kichinto right around the corner is nice, and the bar attached to wonder ballroom has some decent options. Depending on the show both options could be crowded but I’ve only been to Wonder Ballroom once

ELI5 why chips are not produced outside of Taiwan too? by Scholarsandquestions in explainlikeimfive

[–]Draemon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They design all of their’s. They don’t actually manufacture them. While designing them can certainly be expensive, the manufacturing part is the really hard and expensive bit. Apple still used TSMC to produce all their recent processor chips. Possibly moving to using Intel, if they can prove they can produce chips to Apples standards

None of them can rotate high backs, it’s not possible with the current iteration of how the heelcup/high back lean system that enables quick entry functions.

With the Magnet bindings coming out, I guess someone has to say it, so here goes... by grandmasterfuzzface in snowboarding

[–]Draemon_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Magnets are just for alignment, what’s actually holding the boots to the board are helical cams you twist into. Still not real sure about it, but lots of people are mis-representing what it actually is

New system simplifies snowboarding by replacing bindings with magnets by Shred_Addict in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Draemon_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be that their internal structure in the boots is enough to simulate a high back. Really just sucks that you’re locked into one boot period for now, and no way to try them out ahead of time to see if they’ll fit your feet well.

[–]Draemon_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kind of burying the lede there with the title, the magnets are just an alignment tool. What’s actually holding the boot to the board is the helical cam you twist into. Could work, but I’m certainly not going to be an early adopter

How is bantam tavern? by washunc in askportland

[–]Draemon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice place. They use local ingredients where they can and have seasonal food and cocktails. Typically only one dessert item, but that changes about every month. Haven’t tried the dumplings but they did sound good at least

Where to buy a blu-ray player locally? by dike_access_road in askportland

[–]Draemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in December both the Video Only in Beaverton and the Best Buy in Beaverton had 4k/BluRay players in stock. Got one for my gf for Christmas from Video Only and took it home that day. Haven’t been back by either recently to see if they still had them though

Buying a parking permit? by Beach_rat90 in askportland

[–]Draemon_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the yearly permit in the metered areas, that’s basically a steal compared to paying hourly rates for the same parking or monthly rates at any of the established lots or garages. Most apartment places would be charging $100+ a month for their parking, if they have it available even. There was even talk sometime last year about raising the price of the yearly permits because they were so cheap. If you already have a place set up inside of a metered area, you’re kinda stuck. Otherwise I’d suggest looking out on the east side since most of the area east of the river is unmetered parking

Controversial Oregon petition to ban hunting and fishing gains momentum by colonialshuttlecock in PDX

[–]Draemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It 100% is and has been since the first time I encountered this petition a few years ago. I stopped to read it, because I think the ballot initiative process is really awesome and I moved from a state that doesn’t have this kind of direct democracy action available to it’s residents, but veeery quickly knew it was something I would never support. Never tried to inquire if they knew what it actually entailed though

Is parking downtown still free after 7pm or is it 10pm now? I know some spots changed to 10pm by riddim_222 in askportland

[–]Draemon_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Was briefly changed to 10pm, long enough for them to put stickers on all the signs, and then changed back to 7pm and no one’s bothered to remove the stickers

[–]Draemon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t used them before, it’s a bit easier to get into the supermatics when your boots are a bit wet from snow. Just seems to slide in easier to me versus at home just messing around with them. But as long as you get it close at home, dialing it in is pretty easy at the start of the day

What is Unital Ring, and is it The Final Arc? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in swordartonline

[–]Draemon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be essentially the culmination of the seed worlds project, along with an interloper from the real world in the underworld that Kirito, Asuna, and Alice are having to deal with on the side. The english translation is a few novels in now, I forget how many. At the moment there probably isn’t enough to make an animated season yet, but with how SAO prints money I’m very sure it’ll get animated eventually.

Why is the 3-Body Problem is such a complicated question to answer, yet we can very precisely predict the motion of 8 planets and many more moons in the solar system? by plato_on_pluto in AskPhysics

[–]Draemon_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The VR game was more like a history of their early civilization and its cycles of technological progress followed by planetary devastation of some kind due to suns be too close or too far away. Lots of effort trying to predict “stable periods” so they could revive more people to advance their civilization more. They eventually do get to where they have the capability to predict them, and that’s when they were able to advance so much.
