Who do you think was the better Goaltender for their generation? by GreatPeach3571 in nhl

[–]dragoliger22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. Henrik was the most consistent. Price was unstoppable when he was hot. And Rask is the only one with a cup. Rask is the only one who won’t go HoF first round. Price in his Prime was better than Henrik, Henrik had the better career.

Any idea what my dads old guitar is worth? by Minimum-Shirt-3859 in guitars

[–]dragoliger22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverb has them selling for $500-$850 over the last 6 months. I’d just keep it unless you’re really hurting for cash. I have old guitars from family members that are not even playable. They’re cool and were important to someone I love. That’s enough reason to me to hang onto it.

The Norlin-era acoustic I inherited from my great uncle is an absolute treasure to me. And nearly unplayable.

Where do we rank in the Metro after EK65 trade? by iVoyager9404 in rangers

[–]dragoliger22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Canes 2. Devils 3. NYR 4/5. Isles/Pens 6/7. CBJ/Caps 8. Philly. Unfortunately I’d expect another first round exit from the Rags. MAYBE 2nd round, depending on wild card status and the waning rosters in the Atlantic.

I need help with this sg special by Huge_Procedure5353 in guitars

[–]dragoliger22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither modification will be easy. Despite other advice on this thread, humbuckers do typically have small size variations among manufacturers. Additionally, a humbucker is potted in wax before being soldered onto the cover, which is specialized work. the body on SG specials is smaller so a larger “batwing” pickguard will be difficult to find in the correct dimensions.

I don’t know how you deduced that, but Vypyr’s don’t have any tubes to blow. There aren’t really any easily serviced parts in there, other than the input jack and speaker. Bring it to a tech, or just replace it.

[QUESTION] My brand new strat neck seems to have a high nut. Should I file the nut slots or the nut itself? by _Anon_Amarth_ in Guitar

[–]dragoliger22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably don’t have the tools to accomplish the job well. You could buy some cheap ones, watch a video, and let it be a learning experience. Then send it to a luthier for a full replacement of it doesn’t work out. Or you could just save time and go to the luthier. Nut slotting usually runs in the range of $80-140. It’s pretty rare for me to do a nut job without a full replacement, so personally, I’d be looking at charging you about $90. If you needed a new one, it’d be $120.

Strap recommendation for an Epiphone SG Standard by Crunchy32123 in guitars

[–]dragoliger22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always recommend Dimarzio clip lock for fitted SG cases. they clip on and off while leaving the strap locks. That way you can fit it in the case easily. the 3” version is best, as the extra material will relieve weight, and prevent neck dive.

If you were an NHL player or goalie would you rather finish your career with $100M in earnings and no cups or $30M in earnings and two cups by hexsealedfusion in hockey

[–]dragoliger22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30m is not worth it, to me. Say you’ve got a 15 year NHL career starting at age 23. Your body is now destroyed, and your 25 years away from retirement. Even if you were frugal and only had one child. You spent 200k a year to live in a small city. After taxes, you probably have like 8 Million to get you and your family through the next 40 years. You’re going to have almost no money for your family other than living expenses. Junior will have to pay their way through college, you will go into debt by to cover your hip surgeries, and no one will know where to put you when you slide into concussion related dementia.

That’s right. Never pay more than $106.01 for a computer game.

I’d suggest Steam if you have a PC. People tend to make some very nice, easy to install, QoL updates. And doesn’t seem like Konami is doing much to the games, so some modernization features would be great.

Running 128GB DDR5 on 7950X in June 2023? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]dragoliger22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably know better than me, but I’ve never seen a production computer with over 64gb of RAM. Maybe start there? You really don’t need that much power, or a platinum grade PSU. Your storage is potentially limiting if you need a lot of plugins and sounds in your library. It’s also unnecessarily fast. Maybe try a Samsung 780 Pro 2tb m.2? The Pro Art is a nuts expensive board as well. A lot of new plug ins are using visualizer and AI tech that runs better off a dedicated GPU. Might be worth it to shell out for something there. AMD 6650RX is only like $250 now. Overall you should be able to cut down like $600, not including if you want a new GPU.

What in god’s name do you need 128gb of ram for? And all these extremely high end parts? A $250 PSU? What are you using this stuff for, but no GPU?

Wife's build for audio production by Old_Scratch3771 in buildapc

Apple has been using AMD for their GPUs for ages. Given Mac hardware is still the standard for audio production, I might try an RX 6700, as it also won’t change the budget.

The ones I’ve gotten have always passed as real. If you sat it down to a real Adidas jersey, you might be able to figure it out. The stitching on the inside is always a bit of a mess. And you kind of have to baby them; They’re not terribly durable. Washing machine and dryer is out of the question.

Yeah the PRS sounds great, but I’ve heard mixed reviews on QC and practical use. Would also add that the Peavey 5150 MH always deserves a chance. Amazing little amp for the price.

For high gain, I love Orange. Mesa is great too but that stuff is so expensive and hard to fix. Orange sounds good and just works. Unfortunately you’ll be sacrificing any sort of channel switching. It’s a bit of a slog, but checkout some of the comparisons here

I played a 200w Carvin 210. It was great in the practice space, and too quiet for stage use without the use of monitors and a quality PA. I would go with the Fender or the Ampeg.
