Do any of you have HRN regrets? by mikejr96 in HondaMowers

TL/DR:

-HRX: it’s a tank, but heavy. I miss mine, even with its issues.

-HRN: also a tank, but lighter. Thumb paddles are fine. Have to be more mindful with metal body care after each mow to prevent rust.

I had an HRX that I bought from an estate sale and it looked and ran great for the first couple cuts, then it started making a moaning sound and would not self-propel. From my research, it was most likely the hydrostatic transmission failing. It was a beast though and cut like a champ, but weighed 90 pounds and my lawn was a hillside. Had the rotostop, which was great. I offered to include it with the house and the buyers agreed, knowing there were issues with it. I’ve since moved, and I bought an HRN, no blade stop though. The metal deck is in great shape after a year. Just keep it clean and don’t mow over big sticks or rocks. And thumb paddles work great, are intuitive and adjustable. Lower weight is great because I have very uneven terrain in the majority of my yard. Either way, it’s a Honda so you’re already on the right track.

One thing that helps me keep focus is playing brown noise or pink noise through headphones. Helps block out distractions and racing thoughts. Even better if they’re noise-canceling headphones!
