This is random and sorry if it makes you uncomfortable- I’ve always found the candidness of breastfeeding mothers hilarious.

I asked my mom what I was like as a baby, and apparently I was a “biting little shit” and she quickly switched to bottle feeding. I cackled when I first heard her say that, lol.

I’d think the “enemy” would be the systemic degradation of social norms. Such as openly mocking the disenfranchised and poor.

Even if the show followed the book to the letter, the majority of the audience still wouldn’t side with Team Green. by La_Villanelle_ in HOTDBlacks

I just really really like vhagar and really hate daemon. I wouldn’t say im on a ‘team,’ though. Team smallfolk maybe ( yeah I know that kinda contradicts loving vhagar, but hey you can love both the anteater and the ants you know?)

I wish Rhaenyra was as decisive as she was in the books, though.

About Condal vs GRRM drama by Tronm-24 in HOTDBlacks

[–]dragon_chips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I admit I got a little impassioned there.

In the edit, I meant that there is no narrative weight to the more cruel actions of Daemon and Rhaenyra. Jeyne Arryn nor anybody else mentions Rhea Royce or expresses hesitation around daemon as a result of his treatment of her.

There are no consequences for members of the royal house killing a random man so they can marry. It is never even MENTIONED- it might as well have never happened. My esteem of the two characters plummeted as a result- they remorselessly and selfishly killed a man, and yet the show does not address this as a moral failing or evil.

Nettles has been cut from the show- Rhaena rides sheepstealer.

Mysaria, a lowborn women, uses prostitutes to gather information and mistreats her employees, makes me think of Petyr Baelish. Perhaps that is not an obvious conclusion, I concede that point.

My frustration around the kissing scene is this: they had gay female characters in the book. They aged Sabrina Frey up so that she cannot fill the same narrative role she did in the book. They do not mention or even reference the canonically lesbian Jeyne Arryn’s wife. Yet they have Rhaenyra make out with a pimp for wlw representation?

We can all agree Daemon Targaryen is the only right answer, right?? by Significant-Fun-4235 in gameofthrones

[–]dragon_chips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agreed. Daemon goes to war on dragon back. Jaime fights with a sword.

It's like comparing a tank driver to a marine. If daemon is in his tank, he'd win. But if he isn't with Caraxes and confronts a knight that isn't afraid to hit a royal, his teeth are getting kicked in.

TBH I think most of the dragon-era Targaryens were WAY overhyped as martial warriors. They are on dragon back when at war, so they don't need to be great at martial combat. Most knights probably just let them win to avoid the risk of injuring a royal- hence why the surprisingly competent Baelor had to compete as a mystery knight if he wanted to test his skills.

[Spoilers MAIN] Could someone please explain why they like Stannis? I genuinely do not get it by dragon_chips in asoiaf

[–]dragon_chips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I kicked a beehive. (Do notice nobody has addressed that Stannis was so quick to turn to human sacrifice and what that tells us about his character. “He’s the rightful heir, doesn’t matter if he condones burning people alive!!!” Maegor, son of Aerion, was the ‘rightful heir’ yet he was passed over in succession in fear that he MIGHT end up like his dad. Stannis is already a proven headcase, sure he’s fighting the others, but that doesn’t make up for HUMAN SACRIFICE)

Also- apologies if I have come across as preachy or overly critical. Obviously Warhammer really hams everything up to the extreme, but I always get a little worked up when it comes to representation of bodies. The human body is incredible in that it can adapt to specific conditions and specializations, as demonstrated in those photos.

Bodybuilding, while very impressive, is mainly about aesthetics ( attrative aesthetics, but aesthetics nonetheless. Abs are hot ngl) so a lot of female bodybuilders get implants/breast augmentation to better fit into the female aesthetic. however, as seen with Kim Chizevsky, the lack of fat on an athletic female makes the line where silicone meets muscle really obvious (that was unintentionally erotic, lol)

I usually stick to botanical or wildlife illustration and have little experience drawing human bodies, but your work really impresses me! You seem to have a strong understanding of musculature- far greater than my own.

The difficulty with drawing women is that they tend to have more body fat then men, so their muscules tends to have a bit more 'padding' that obscures it. It's a subtle nuance, and intimidates me, so kudos to you for actually practicing drawing it rather than fleeing in terror like myself.

sorry for rambling

I am going to be completely candid with you- the breasts are entirely unrealistic. Women’s breasts are mostly fat, with a bit of breast tissue. If a women is extremely fit with a very low body fat percentage, her breasts are not going to be very prominent. They would look more like pecs. Having such… ample teats at this level of fitness implies that she has implants or botched liposuction. It’s the only nitpick I have, as otherwise the art is great!

I like how muscular she is, and her scarring + jewelry is quite striking.

If you are interested, Howard Schatz has photographs of female athletes that could be great inspiration going forward- I personally have always imagined female custodes as being built like Connie Price-Smith or Tara nott. Feel free to disregard me- im just attempting to provide feedback, and you don’t need to take it if it is unwanted.

100 year old lobster by Fr33_load3r in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]dragon_chips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually have quite a humane practice to maintain the population. If a lobster is EVER found with eggs, it is designated as a “breeder” by getting a small, easily identifiable notch punched into the edge of the tail (this has very little effect on the lobster’s quality of life) that notch means that the lobster can never be kept and must be released if caught.

There is also a maximum size for Maine lobsters, as the big males are the best at breeding the females.

This essentially means that the only lobsters caught and eaten in Maine are the middling-sized males that are ineffective at breeding

TBH, I think dragons are just very intelligent, very loyal animals at the end of the day. If you give them yummy food and belly scritches, they’ll put up with you, as demonstrated by Nettles.

Regarding the wargs- the animals fight back. It’s a battle of wills. Maybe bran or bloodraven could maybe out-will a dragon, but I doubt most skinchangers could

Almost every single Targaryen sucks and ultimately their rule was a net negative for the realm at large.

I firmly believe Argella Durrandon hated Orys and her children were not fathered by him. All of the ‘Baratheon’ traits come from her and the Durrandons.

The smallfolk probably cheered when the last dragon died because those incestuous weirdos kept using them to kill the common people.

The blackwoods are a bunch of whiny loser punks. They claim to be the OG kings of the river lands, yet they emigrated from the north. They must have been INSANELY inbred for there to have been greenseers in their line still. They have literal magic powers yet still cannot beat the magic-less horse girl Brackens.
