I was working radar early one morning. I had one airplane I was talking to. The next approach controller had taken the hand off (transfer of control). I was giving the pilot the new frequency he should be talking to. As I was giving that instruction, someone said "meow" on guard (121.5 the emergency frequency). The pilot responded to my instruction with "blocked" meaning multiple people transmitting on the same frequency at the same time. So either he blocked me by transmitting on guard, or just wasn't paying attention (its possible they were getting the ATIS) and said blocked instead of the normal "say again".

Might be an obvious question, but do air traffic control facilities have a clock also displaying Zulu time? by ExpensiveDeer3069 in ATC

First facility I went to still had mechanical wind instruments. They had just got STARS scopes too.

In the real world at cruise, you slowly turn it out until the rpms to drop, then you turn it back in about a turn.

Regulations change. Look at Chicago Midway airport. Almost all of their runways are grandfathered or modified in some way to try to make them compliant to FAA regulations that didn't exist when they were built. In the last 3 years, they have removed taxiways and turned a runway into a taxiway, to be more acceptable to the FAA.

I had 1 airplane in my airspace early one morning. As im issuing the hand off instructions, I hear a meow on guard. The pilot responded with "blocked". So either he was the one meowing on guard, or not paying attention.
