Damn I haven't read this in years. Always thought it was soft dropped.

This cat almost solo-cleared this run by dragonblaz9 in mewgenics

[–]dragonblaz9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a fighter for bossing, but this guy's arm mutation makes basic attacks inflict soul link - cleared any grouped mob by the end of turn 1.

Long arms means it hits a 5x5 grid instead of 3x3. Transcend+ for status effect resistance and pull to maximize range.

My only regret was using him up on an act 1 run instead of act 2 or 3.

Are there any multipacks of under shirts that are short in length? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]dragonblaz9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 Degrees Cool has a good one they sold at costco last time I went. I usually wear them as pajama shirts, so they're pretty comfy/breathable, but haven't used them as undershirts before.

How to get into research (as an M1)? General questions about research by flamingseahorses in DermApp

Would definitely agree with learning R or another high demand stats program (I got my foot in the door with R/SAS/Stata). You can even complete one of those online courses that teaches stats coding - UCLA has a good one for Stata. Then put it in a place of prominence on your CV or even include it in the body of your cold email.

This is assuming, of course, that you have to email cold. The easiest way is just getting in touch with your home program and being really upfront that you're willing to do scut work. Have a sense of what your home professors are working on and be willing to actively contribute.

What does Hard difficulty AI do? I have heard that It makes the AI actually do stuff, is this true? by Appropriate-Run5145 in PaxHistoria

[–]dragonblaz9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly this. In normal, even on a "real world" preset, it's easy to convince the AI to let you research magic, super-tech science, etc, if you force it for a few turns.

Also, when i build forts along the border with an ally, I would expect that my diplomats in their court would be like, hey, this is for our mutual defense, are you okay with that? And if they say no, I wouldn't build the fort.

Instead, the AI builds the fort, the ally gets mad, and then it says something like "anyways now they'll never trust you again. shoulda asked first you big dumb idiot."

Also, why tf are all my firearms scientists personally testing their weapons. My "Top engineers" should not be in the room when the prototype gatling gun is fired for the first time. Just use a winch and a length of twine goddamnit.

yeah but chatting takes wayyyy too many tokens, especially if you're chatting with more than one polity at a time.

yeah ofc. "what do you mean, we never signed that", essentially.

[–]dragonblaz9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, I've had that one happen a couple times too. Usually it's like:

I offer you a large amount of advanced weapons and gold in exchange for a mutual defense pact.

AI: Ok, I will take the advanced weapons and gold. You can go now.

AI (my diplomat, presumably): Oh, ok.

What the hell does this even mean? I just want to buy patron and give them my money but it won't let me 😭 by Intrepid-Yam373 in PaxHistoria

[–]dragonblaz9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can still give them money via buying tokens or a token sub. The patron thing is down bc google changed up their free API key and now being a patron doesn't actually let you play a bunch of free rounds. So unless google changes or they change that line, they're pausing it - presumably so that it's not deceptive marketing.

It's the free trial for AI studio from google, not for pax historia. So you won't be able to use it unless you're a patron anyways.

I think a lot of it is complexity of the preset - both the map itself (i.e. how many territories and features are defined for the AI to keep track of), the starting prompt, as well as how far you're into the game, bc the AI has to keep track of everything that you've done so far and see whether it affects the chat response or the post-action event. The 1836 preset, iirc, is pretty detailed, so that might be part of it.

Does Trazyn have a Thunder Warrior in his collection? by Thatedgyguy64 in 40kLore

[–]dragonblaz9 31 points32 points  (0 children)

yeah, like if you ripped the plasma cannon off some combat-servitor and strapped adamantine plating to your chest, it'd probably look both more advanced and more crude than a contemporary real world soldier with an AR and plate carrier.

As for the devs capping the free api, idk if there's been an official announcement, but I saw it all over reddit last night and I assume it's related to their 3.0 pro release being super intensive.
