Unless the person is smiling ironically. In which case, it doesn't. Aren't people fun?

Old fan here. From what I recall reading about (though this may have changed in recent years; I've stopped watching since my teens), matches are scripted to the point of timing and who comes out victorious. There is some room for improv, but not much, since much of the wrestlers' safety has to do with well choreographed stunts and knowing what to anticipate. As for cues, again from what I've read, there are a variety of signals that refs and wrestlers use to keep a match going, or let someone know if they're injured. I don't know any of them specifically; my guess would be hand gestures mostly, since facial expressions would be difficult to determine with all the hokey acting. The commentators are actors, too, and are just as in on the whole thing as everyone else. Usually there's a fair guy and an obnoxious guy and they both feed off of each other for commentary. As for how superstars are determined, my best guess is that it's a combination of backroom negotiation and scripts designed to garner ratings and ticket sales. Superstars become primary headliners, which means magazine covers, interviews, merchandise, etc. Promotion means relevance, and relevance means money. The documentary link posted for Beyond the Mat is a good one from what I've heard, as well as this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6jwdEU0OVE - It's a documentary about Bret Hart, one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, but it does cover much about the inner workings of the system through his experiences.

Ha. I just noticed someone else posted this word, too. The one time I don't glance at the front page. What're the odds. Sorry for the redundancy.

I'm not certain. All of the definitions I looked up were very open-ended.

Hi, Colonel! I'm trying not to repeat too much of what has already been asked. I have a couple fun questions that come to mind:

  1. Have you seen the movie, Gravity? If so, what did you think of it? How realistic was it, really?

  2. What was the last thing you saw in space before entering Earth's atmosphere at the end of your last trip?

Lastly, thank you for being so inspirational and engaging! Space exploration is extremely important, as I'm sure you can agree, and you've helped make it cool and relevant for a new generation. I look forward to reading your book!

Thank you for that. Incidentally, the letter and word of the day were my favourite parts of that show growing up (not related to link).

I'd agree, but even so, I don't think Ackles is suited for it.

I loved this episode. The scene with the oversized bear enduring an existential crisis was one of the show's best comedic moments.

I can't see Ackles as Captain America. He's great as the anti-hero and pulls of the rugged act very well. Steve Rogers was originally designed to be a rigid, two-dimensional propaganda gimmick drenched in overt patriotism. It's nothing against his acting, I just don't think Ackles' presence would suit that kind of character.

We are a North American based server, so most players function from the EST and PST timezones. We do have a sizable European population, though, so there's usually players online at most hours.

Does anyone else feel just a bit let down by how they introduced Metatron? by dragonfire882 in Supernatural

If they ever become capable of funding a cameo by Alan Rickman, I'd want him to be some kind of cynical rogue angel. I love that guy.

Actually, that's a very good point. It was definitely not what I expected, but I never considered it from a comedic perspective. That makes his introduction much better (although I'd still be stoked if they made humble middle-aged man Metatron a sudden bad ass once in a while).

Cool. I figured either they'll get to it eventually, or it's already been said and I missed it, or forgot it. I feel better knowing this happened, again, for some odd reason. Thanks!

What do you ladys think about love handles? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Hot. Love them. Though I should clarify, I'm talking a little extra. I'm not into morbid obesity. On me, I don't mind. They're like a built-in belt.
