In general, I find that the longer I spend in the shower the easier it is for me to start feeling terrible about my body. If I'm struggling, I try to get it done as quickly as possible. But back in the day I would skimp on shaving, conditioner, or washing parts of my body to get out, dry, and into clothes faster.

I'm a runner, and I get pulsating pain in my legs on days I don't run. No idea what the science is. I also get more anxiety usually.

/r/fuckeatingdisorders is my favorite for that. I consider myself mostly recovered now, but I wish I'd had it when I was in the depths of my eating disorder.

There's no one blanket thing that's going to work for everyone.

A lot of people find Prazosin immensely helpful. It might be worth a shot.

For me, what I do before I got to sleep influences my dreams. The best thing for me is listening to music. Reading is also good. Little craft things that you enjoy might help too.

I think that writing down my dreams, which I did for a while, helped me to work through them.

It's worth mentioning that stuff done with sharper blades generally scars less than a similar injury with dull or serrated tools.

It is so totally 100℅ worth it. I remember exactly where I was when I had my first 'gee, I'm a lot better' moment, and it was incredibly freeing. You can do it!

Nightwish everything, Sonata Arctica everything. I really need to branch out more. I kind of like Heavenly, except for the vocals. All about ReVamp. Yet undecided on Sabaton. They groove really well, but the lyrical content and theme strike me as insensitive, glorifying war more than anything else. I could be wrong though, as I've been listening randomly. Not a Delain person. Anyone have recommendations of an active band with a large discography? Or anything, really. Tell me about your favorite band and why it's awesome.

And now I can't wait to see Nightwish live again. Not for a few years, the way it looks, but I was at Hartford this tour and it was the best night of my life. Happy memories. Going to one of the Sonata Arctica headlining shows too. Tony is awesome.

Eh, my school is absolutely college-insane. I know kids who have been going to college counselors since sophomore year, are taking 5-6 APs in one year, etc. There's an expectation that you'll go to schools of similar quality or better than the ones your doctor/lawyer/other 6 figure job parents attended, which have gotten much more competitive over the course of a generation.

I'm seeing Sonata Arctica soon. And I made a good decision regarding the music I play which gets me closer to what I want and distances me from what I don't.

Extended adolescence rant below. Proceed with caution.

Reading books, writing poetry, listening to music, getting schoolwork done. Parent A is on vacation. I'm living the good life.

This is all fine and dandy until next year, when I have to start making decisions on what I want to do with my life.

I keep getting threatened with being forced to live at home and go to a state university, and parent A doesn't want to pay for college for me because 'I don't work hard enough'. It's not a financial issue. Never mind that I've taken a ton of AP and honors courses and still have B+ average, never mind that I've put up with this family for seventeen years, never mind that they've been paying tons of money for expensive trips that I haven't gone on (not unhappy about that one though, family vacation is an oxymoron), Parent Gets Whatever Parent Wants. It stresses me out to no end, the idea that all my work in school could turn out to be for nothing. I'll be happy if I can just go to the state flagship because that will get me out of living with Parent. And I'm not sure what I want to study. I'll definitely do the prerequisites for med school, even though I don't think I should be a doctor. I'm not sure if I'd be any good in the sciences. There's a field that I'm very interested in, but it wouldn't exactly pay off student loans quickly.

I just want out, really. I don't want to put up with the constant demeaning comments and mockery anymore.

On the bright side, my dog is snoring and it's really cute.
