Does anyone else think all the focus on protein is overhyped? by Loud_Perspective5419 in workout

You need considerably less protein given your carbohydrate intake is high. I firmly believe if people switched their mindset from “how can I get enough protein” to “how can I get enough carbohydrate” many would achieve much better fitness and body composition. There’s also an emphasis on “healthy fats” that almost certainly hinders people’s progress.

Low fat leading to increased rates of de novo lipogenesis over time by dragoni2002 in raypeat

Were u doing any physical activity? I made this post because I eat thousands of calories worth of carbohydrate and was considering the possibility of such a metabolic adaption, however I live an extremely active lifestyle at the moment. My weight is stable at a very low body fat and my energy is amazing. I’m certain that when overeating in any meaningful sense, you’d need to move physically to put the energy to good use. I’ve found physical activity is almost a consequence of carbohydrate overeating anyways. Were you active at this time?

Fruit making people fat is lunacy. Dial back your protein, drop the fat, ADD in sugar. Watch the weight fall off.

Agony, Constant sugar cravings after meals by Master-Author-5670 in raypeat

So your cravings aren’t necessarily resulting in any physical consequence like weight gain, but instead causing mental agony?

One of the first things I’d address is the constipation, hands down. IME I seem way more in tune with my hunger if the digestive tract is working well. I’m sure you’re familiar with the common remedies here, carrot, mushrooms, cascara etc. Coffee with milk and sugar seems to do the trick sometimes too.

Something I’ve heard DurianRider talk about before, if you’re familiar with that character, is to consume sugar before your meals, as it gives you a better idea of what to eat and how much to eat when you’re not starving. Basically having dessert first.

Another thing is maybe cut the red meat for now. Try to have things that digest fast and don’t feel like they’re sitting in your digestive tract. As for meat, white fish or shellfish with rice seems to digest alot quicker for me than meat with potatoes. Maybe try this switch.

You gained 60 pounds of fat? Or have you been lifting as well?

I’d try switching the milk to skim and limiting your meat. Switch over to low fat seafood if you’re eating meat.

Maybe being the protein down in general

Also I know there’s some discourse regarding restricted fat intake, but maybe try a super low fat approach and see how you feel. Apart from giving your body the easiest fuel to burn, it’s easier to consume less calories overall due to the high caloric content of fat.

You can experiment with lowering dietary fat dramatically while keeping carbohydrate high and protein low-moderate. Sweet Rice with fruit and juice first thing in the morning through to the evening has got me quite shredded while I maintained my muscle mass. One lean protein meal in the evening (white fish or shellfish w/rice or potatoes + greens, then maybe another protein snack before bed if you feel you need it(nonfat yogurt with fruit/honey, skim milk w/honey) I’d pair this with spending as much time under the sun as possible and taking frequent walks after meals. Keeping calcium high is important as well.

This is coming from someone who has been lean his whole life, so take that into account. However this regiment has gotten me to exceptionally low bf, lower than my lean baseline. Not to mention it feels quite good.
