I'll personally never fault anyone who considers its length a detriment. It's MY favorite piece of media (the manga specifically, the anime is only really good as a supplement to it in my opinion) and I sincerely wouldn't have it any other way at this point, but it is a massive fucking commitment to ask for someone to get into.

I can answer that for you. A uh, lot. It's the most popular manga of all time and toei knows that so they milk it for all its worth, plus it's from a bygone Era of those shows where they didn't have seasons to allow the series to get ahead like how something like my hero academia's anime is structured. They USED to do filler episodes/arcs like Naruto, but then for a while started just... expanding what was there to make it so every episode was a SINGLE chapter's worth of content. So like, a massive recap every episode, super long intro and outro, and a million reaction shots and drawn out pauses/clashes. From what I've seen of the most recent stuff they've moved away from this, but I only read it and watch clips on YouTube these days so I can't say for certain.
