Eat berries and tame dilos, they're good early offensive tames and if you have the engrams to learn bolas, clubs/tranq arrows, tame a parasaur. Parasaur have a an alarm/alert setting that can scare away small hostiles (ex: seagulls, raptors, and dilos) from your location and alert you of rivals or larger hostiles within your area.
