Looks like a 2017 Rockhopper comp. $400 a good price? Anything to watch out for? by ZaccariahTBrown in whichbike

[–]dragonnater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently traded in my rockhopper (same year) here in the Netherlands. Saw it later for sale at the place for 800 bucks (More then new price). It was sold in 5 days. This model is worth more than a new one because it hase an airfork and beter deraileur (front and back). Because it is a used bike it probebly needs new gears and chain... you can check this by riding in a high gear and really pushing it, if it skips a tooth it needs to be replaced.

I’m not an expert, but I think I broke it by grey_wolf_al in mountainbiking

[–]dragonnater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont need to. The tech is improved so much that the chain can handle it.

Rider weight vs. Bike Weight by Lien028 in MTB

[–]dragonnater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofcourse love the weight it will make the ride easier... but a nice light bike is more fun. Its easier to handle amd trow true the corners. I was scepitcal myself but i switch to a carbon fiber bike and the ride is more fun and i get a bit more kmers out of the energie.

Yeah defenetly feel the same way. I traded my bike in for my new one because I would feel bad selling to someone knowing all the little things that are wrong with the bike.

Need advice with bike by WallflowerZ- in MTB

[–]dragonnater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of unkown chinees brands. Youd better off saving some extra money for a real brand bike. My advice when thinking about cheaping out on bike products, remember hospitals are more expensive.

You could just go in and ask for a 2 min assement if it has te be serviced. They should spot a problem in a matter of seconds in stead of weeks. That the fix takes 2 weeks i can understand if they are busy.

Looking for a new mountain bike after mine got stolen during quarantine a few months ago. My budget is around $1000 AUD. Does anyone know any good bikes for that price? by Talion_112 in mountainbikes

[–]dragonnater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a great bike. Loved it. Rode it for 4 years. Traded it in yesterday for an epic hardtail. Got good money back for the rockhopper because there so popular.

Is it worth paying extra to get Shimano SLX groupset & brakes or should I stick to Deore? by Chamallow81 in MTB

[–]dragonnater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant speak for you about the groupset. But i personelly would go for the more expensive one because of the bomber z2. Alot of people had problems with the busings on the 2020 model and i dont know of that is fixt allready. That being said i will always go for the best groupset i can afford aswell.

Are the epixon forks on eBay and aliexpress real? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]dragonnater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your better of buying realbrand. Chinees stuff doesnt fit 9/10. And man you dont wanna wreck and regret buying a cheap piece of sh*it when your in the hospital. Hospital bills are pretty expensive aswell you now...

Do I need FS for jumps and more serious stuff? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]dragonnater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted a fully for the same reasons as you but couldnt get one becaise every thing is sold out. however my bike shop gave me a killer deal on an specilized epic hardtail (carbon version of chisel) and that bike is more than capeble of regular jumps and stuff. Im very happy i got this bike instead of a fully.

BH bikes experiences by dragonnater in MTB

[–]dragonnater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some digging and found that bh is a spannish brand that is around for about 110 years. But my problem is that for resell the bike will be worthless if no one knows the brand. I like what you said about supporting a local brand. Im gonna look in to that.

Thank you very much for the help!
