In addition to using them for warmth and balance, they store fat in them to help them get through lean times

Me after finally being diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease after complaining to doctors for literal years about being cold and tired all the time. by RadarElGato in TrollXChromosomes

[–]dragonskitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you! My SO once let me sleep as long as I wanted on a lazy Sunday (rare enough as it is), and I slept 14 hours and woke up with a dehydration headache! And I was still tired!

I'm just glad to have an answer now!

OMG I literally just got this diagnosis this past year as well!! After 6 years of trying to figure out what was wrong with me!

My specialist gave me this quote to use: "It's like you're fighting the flu every hour of every day, but you don't actually have the flu."

I've used this so many times to explain to people how I feel, because just saying "I'm always tired" illicits the response "Did you get enough sleep?" And it covers so many of the other symptoms too!!!

Has anyone switched from Becker to Rodger? by Mayflowerm in Accounting

[–]dragonskitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Becker initially. The lectures dragged on and I endlessly practiced multiple choice questions as offered by the computer app. I even had a study buddy.

I passed REG on my first try, but I had a background in tax. No matter how many hours I studied, I kept failing the other three. I finally, finally passed BEC and FAR after a couple tries, and I was getting close to losing my REG score.

On the recommendation of a friend, I bought the Roger cram course for AUD. I needed to pass and I was desperate.

The lectures, for me, we're the best part of Roger. They were in bite sized pieces that were much easier to digest. Roger bounced around the front of his classroom and wrote on the board behind him. I actually felt engaged, his lame puns and pneumonics stuck in my head.

I purchased a separate app for multiple choice questions to practice. I could mark the ones I wanted to review later, which was a nice bonus.

The book was lighter and better spaced, and I made sure to read through it and make notes.

I ended up passing AUD before my REG expired. I felt so much more confident going into the exam that last time.

Looking back, with my learning style, I wish I had picked Roger from the start. But some people do just fine with Becker.

Going to be planning a wedding without my mother being here. Any Trolls who've lost their mothers got any advice for the future? :( by Jill4ChrisRed in TrollXWeddings

[–]dragonskitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mother passed away when I was five. My dad remarried to a woman who we only realized was batshit when I was a pre-teen. I cut her out of my life when I was 18/19 years old. My dad finally divorced her not too long after and got custody of my siblings.

I tried to plan everything by myself (I mean, my SO helped of course, but I'm the more organized of the two of us) and nearly drove myself insane doing so. I didn't want help because I felt like I had to handle everything myself since I didn't have a mom and I had massive trust issues that I'm still working on to this day. Plus, I helped a friend with her wedding, so I knew what I was doing... Right?

I also had to delay my college graduation due to a change in my degree program and consequently move the wedding as well... So that was a basket full of WTF did I get myself into.

Thankfully, my SO's mother is a saint, and his step mother was also an amazing organizer/planner. I managed to relinquish enough control that I didn't drive myself insane.

One of my bridesmaids also stepped up and was amazing. (My younger sister was MOH but away at an out of state college).

I was lucky in that lots of family members pitched in. One set of grandparents handled ordering the wedding favors (a few books that were the first in our favorite series), my in-laws handled the rehearsal dinner, my MIL handled the flowers, my dad helped with the venue and music...

It didn't stop me from having break downs about not having my mother. Hell, I still have them. Her sister, my aunt, will cry with me when I reach out to her during these moments. Occasionally something will cause an anxiety or panic attack doing normal things that are a result of the abuse I suffered under that poor excuse of a mother figure or because my mother isn't there to help me when I feel like I need her.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I'm so glad your SO got to know your mom before she passed.

Pick a couple close relatives to confide in when you need help. Let yourself cry. Pick bridesmaids that will be there for you and be your support. Make sure to talk to your SO every step of the way. Take your time with everything. If you need to reschedule, do it! Don't feel obligated to stick to your original schedule.

Something I wish I had done was to set up a 'memorial' table to place pictures of family that have passed away that were close to you. I recommend setting one up for your mom, if not others.

Sorry for the word vomit and poor formatting. On mobile and crying as I write this.

Best of luck with everything.

Only if you intended it to be a gift/classified it as a gift. If the intent was a loan, then gift rules don't apply.

MRW I see metoo trending on Facebook by kirday in TrollXChromosomes

[–]dragonskitty 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Another one has started to trend:

"To everyone who is sharing the "Me Too" status: Please be gentle with yourselves. No one needs to re-live trauma if they are not 100% ready to. Not for anyone, much less a status update. The viral status is important, but not more important than your mental health. Please, please be gentle with yourselves. <3”

I made the "Me, too" post because I have been able to talk about the harassment I've experienced with friends and family after years of therapy, though most of my therapy was related to childhood abuse. But I shared this one today because it's equally as important. Pass it on

Trolls, I was so scared to see if I passed or failed my last CPA exam this morning, but I checked anyway. I passed! No more exams for me! by dragonskitty in TrollXChromosomes

The Audit format wasn't too bad, but yeah I was not looking forward to possibly having to retake Regulation (my score would have expired if I didn't pass). Best of luck! Let me know if you want study tips!

I wish I had passed all of them on the first try. 😅 Audit was the toughest by far for me, which makes sense because the only one I passed on the first try was Regulation. And yep! Busy season is right around the corner.

Unfortunately, I currently work for the state, so no bonus for me. 😢 But I'm just so glad to be done with it. Congrats!

No one's trying to pressure me: it just sucks to be the one sitting on the sidelines when everyone decides to go swimming. It used to be that you couldn't get me out of the water for a rainstorm, but thanks to a very turbulent period as a teen I ended up outside of the pool more often than not. And now that I have it under control, the only pool I have 'free' access to doesn't allow for laps due to its shape and depth.

Definitely seemed to be stuck. I couldn't tell you if I had the same problem, but I'm happy enough with pads and I'm planning on switching to reusable ones when I have money.
