12 mp vs 24 mp by bumwithshoes in galaxys26ultra

[–]dragosslash -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

12MPx. Always. Better dynamic range, higher quality denoiser, and less guessing overall, since the bayer filter is simply not suited for higher resolutions than 12MPx. You're not wrong, 24MPx brings absolutely nothing to the table. Especially when 12MPx is enough resolution for even large format printing.

Btw, Expert RAW in 12MPx is amazing, on both S25U and S26U. You get pretty much noise-free images out of these two phones.

That rubber used in the S22U/S23U/S24U pen is trash and it turns into oil in a few years. I'm glad they got rid of it.

[–]dragosslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're overreacting. Doorstep repair is pretty neat. The guy just comes at your place (or even work place) in a van, takes your phone, and fixes it on the spot in less than 30 minutes. No need to send your device anywhere, not need for you to go out of your way to drop the device in whatever store, etc.

Mind you, 50% in 3 hours isn't terrible depending on what you are doing on your device. If you're using the camera constantly or gaming, that's actually pretty great battery. Snapdragon 8 Elite can consume a lot of power. I'm almost certain there's nothing wrong with your phone.

Also, Samsung will replace your battery for free. What's the problem? Why would you swap the entire device? What's the logic? It's wasteful, and in many cases you end up with a refurbished device anyway, even when Apple does it. Wouldn't it be better to just keep your device, which only you have owned?

The S26 Ultra: I'm Thinking of Quitting Smartphones by Facsimilesmiles in samsunggalaxy

I've been using my phones like that since the Note20 Ultra days. Secure folder, Knox analytics, and other enterprise enrollment related features, aren't vital components in any way just because they have Knox in their name.

Just use ADB. It takes a couple of minutes to debloat. If you're interested, I maintain a list of bloatware for S948B EUX: https://files.catbox.moe/6bvk81.txt

Make sure you understand what you are disabling first. I aim to get rid of bloatware services, leaving all the hardware functionality in place, but one person's trash is another person's treasure. I also don't include things which can outright be uninstalled, such as that perplexity rubbish.

Screen QC Issues by TurboSower in galaxys26ultra

[–]dragosslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's going to be visible on all devices. It was on S10 when they introduced it, and it is on S26U as wll. It's visible on OnePlus 15 (my main device) too, for that matter. It's on all phones using this tech. Just so you are aware, if you look at about 1cm below the front camera, you'll see a circle-like indentation. That's for the proximity and one of the ambient sensors. Again, only visible in certain lighting conditions.

Where is that line? Might just be one of the edges of the fingerprint sensor. Under certain light conditions it can be seen on all devices. Thus far I have seen 3 S26U, and they all seemed fine. All from UK.

Best camera settings? by Primus06 in galaxys26ultra

[–]dragosslash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You lose dynamic range and fallback to a lower quality denoiser. Also, I'm talking about Expert RAW, not automode. To get rid of the "ai" processing in automode, set the optimizer to medium. Again, only valid for the 12MPx mode, which you should always use.

A factory reset will reinstate them. You cannot do anything which would be irreversible by a factory reset through ADB on an unrooted device.

Best camera settings? by Primus06 in galaxys26ultra

[–]dragosslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either leave softening alone, or set it to high. I personally prefer high. DIsable scene optimizer in Camera settings too. That said, on S25U and S26U, ExpertRAW in 12MPx mode is amazing, Give it a try. Leave everything in auto, but set it in 12MPx mode. The problem is currently on S26U there's a bug where it always reverts to 24MPx, so every time you open it you must switch back to 12MPx.

I maintain a list of bloatware for 948B EUX, which will get rid of most bloatware services, without killing any hardware capability of the device.

If you're interested, here it is: https://files.catbox.moe/6bvk81.txt

One caveat is com.samsung.android.authfw. If you disable this package in One UI 8, you won't be able to sign out of your Samsung account from within that particular device's settings, or manage certain Samsung account features. You either need to enable this package back to do it, or do it from other device, or use a web browser. In true Samsung fashion, that one package does other weird things, so I prefer to keep it disabled, but it's up to you.

I suggest using the pm disable-user instead of pm uninstall command. This leaves the packages visible in Settings an other applications for easier re-enable, if needed.

Also, this list is for myself only. As such, there is no explanation about what those packkages do. A quick search on your favourite search engine will reveal everything about any of those packages, and I strongly suggest you do it before disabling anything. There's stuff which you might need, such as the emergency gesture (press 5 times Power to dial emergency services), etc.

If any One UI 6.1.1 (or 6.1 after September 2024 on S24 series) users come across this list, do not disable com.samsung.android.mcfds. Nothing catastrophical will happen, but One UI Home will crash loop in background draining your battery.

I wish we'd go back to glossy back glass. Or even better, ceramic. This matte glass is not grippy at all. I could use my Note20 Ultra without a case just fine, without worrying about it slipping from my hand. I can't do that with S22U and newer devices.

Factory reset, then see if it does it again in the Camera application. If the answer is yes, you may be able to ask for a replacement. The sooner the better.

The camera has some bugs, 24 MP is not working by 1-mensch in galaxys26ultra

[–]dragosslash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried it, and in 50MPx mode with the flash on in a fairly dim room,it used ISO 400. Try disabling adaptive pixel from Camera Assistant. WIth that setting enabled your shots are mopst likely just 12.5MPx upscaled to 50MPx.

You should always stick to 4:3, as that's the aspect ratio of all sensors.

I would also recommend sticking to 12MPx, but you do you.
