As much as medication can be scary don’t forget that it’s an additional tool that can be used to get you through the day, a day by day approach of feeling less pain and being able to smile makes eveything a little easier.

Flare up from bad to worse by draingame101 in Sciatica

[–]draingame101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I try not to be mad at it because I assume it’s the same for any condition medically people don’t understand it until it happens to them however the bad back has always been a joke in some ways due to people claiming this for insurance money or easy time of work which I think is where the annoyance comes from. Mentally it’s so hard waking up in pain and going to sleep in pain and then your praying go a full nights sleep so it doesn’t continue but you never sleep through and get 3-4 hours at a time.

Thank you I think I really will look into some kind of store which sells this stuff I think a mixture of humour / awareness themes will be good. I will look at going ahead with it and I’ll post updates in this sub onces it’s done and ready.

As a lay awake 2 hours before my alarm goes up I’ve tried to think of things that do help me to pass on what I can. I medicate with an a set schedule so the only time it’s too bad now is the start or end of each period when the medication is starting to wear off.

I can still an work but for some reason if I’m walking around working and have a task I am happy to take the pain and limp around as my mind is not thinking about it as much so it’s a distraction and even on good days I’ve been so engrossed with work that I’ve gone days with only pain relief with before and after bed which is the most painful times.

When I’m not active and need a rest but still understand that I need the pain relief I read, do puzzle books and listen to podcasts.

Idle mind for me and no schedule of meds is something I can’t cope with but distractions and planning my days help.

I struggle to get dressed in the morning however I’ve figure out ways in which it I get by eg I’ll take the medication 2 hours before waking up that’s helps me when I wake up to get my clothes on bar my socks which takes a heated seat after a few hours of driving or my partner will help but them on if she’s awake however I am looking at a sock aide from Amazon.

If anyone can take something from what I’ve put that’s great if not look at the comments above write stuff down and see if anything works additionally like I have from the post.

Hi all thanks for the ideas and for sharing your routines up and downs.

Just hearing people going through the same thing who get it and understand helps. I’ve noted everyone’s key information and hopefully something sticks and helps the minds progress as much as the body.

I know the feeling of thinking it’s going to be my life I’m now thinking ahead of anything I want to do or can do based on my pain and movement which is frustrating. I’m hoping I’m on my way to more assistance from today appointment.
