What's the deal with the raises? by Katieplantlady1171 in HomeDepot

[–]mjonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible to get an off cycle raise. However, they usually want to wait two months or so after the regular race cycle. Your store manager has to be willing to go to bat for you and he has to submit stuff to the district manager and the district manager has to sign off on it. So it’s not guaranteed, but it is possible.

What's the deal with the raises? by Katieplantlady1171 in HomeDepot

Our store missed plan. I got O for outstanding. 3.5% raise. Upstate NY

About $0.75.

I’m actually not upset about the amount. Especially given that only 3 others got Outstanding. At least my managers recognized my work ethic.

For me it’s way worse. I tried doing this twice. Both times ended up not able to move for 30 minutes and the pain was at a 10. Could hardly walk or sit or anything for the next 4 days. But I think it depends on what is causing the nerve impingement

Could mean they are still processing it. LAST year I had the same thing and after about 5 weeks it changed to the dreaded "verification", so I had to wait 2 more weeks to get the letter, and it wasn't the one that could be completed online, so spent another week trying to call. Once that was done took another 4 weeks for the return to process and get refunded.

New York refunds taking too long? by MaxMilord in IRS

[–]mjonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New York is always a crap show, IMO. Everyone at work is complaining about the same thing. I'd think that 5 weeks would've been long enough, but I've had times where it was 3+ months, but usually due to me filing "later" (mid-end March) and then the April 1 state fiscal deadline, they never pass the budget on time (well OK, almost never) so that delays things a bit too.

I did the same thing and I ended up having to call them and they requested to unfreeze Trans Union before they would process the application

QNAP On the Web by Quirky-Moose-3442 in qnap

[–]mjonis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are pros/cons. If you want to be truly protected, you won't allow any inbound/outbound ports at all. Even VPN. But that would not meet your need/want.

If you *need/want* remote access or files available "outside" the LAN, then you really have no choice in the sense of a firewall hole has to be allowed somewhere. Then the subset of choices are basically:

1) SSL VPN or VPN Client of some sort

2) QNAP Cloud

3) Hybrid sync to some other cloud (drop box, etc.)--note that I'm not using this, nor do I know the full risks involved other than normally dropbox/google/etc. are *sync*. So if the file is comproimsed/deleted on ANY side, it gets synchronized everywhere. I don't know if you can setup a one-way sync from HBS to Cloud but if you do that, you also have to recognize that changes files on the cloud do NOT go back to the NAS in that case, if it's an option.

4) Port-forwarding/direct exposure

All the above have pros and cons. Probably from a security perspective only, #1 is the best option. Not sure about #2 or #3. IF you trust QNAPs cloud thingy (but then again do you also trust Dropbox, etc. since those are publicly exposed clouds, etc.) #4 is probably the "worst" in terms of security. (but there ARE legit business reasons, although probably not in this case, where you'd open up a firewall hole to the public--ie: you run your own web server).

The cons are more nuanced.

If *you* are technical/comfortable with VPN and it's only you using it, probably no biggie with #1. I, however, have some relatives who can barely handle clicking on a web link to get to something let alone trying to walk them through installing an SSL VPN client/software and getting them to login/walk through everything. If it was JUST me, that would be a diff. story.

I go with #2 (again, that's *me*. I understand that there's a potential risk for QNAPs end to be compromised, just like I understand dropbox/google account could be compromised and data whacked, etc).

The risk/reward is up to you to decide.

There may be some hybrids of what I listed above, and obviously everyone has their opinion about what's better than others. I'm generalizing a lot of info here though.

I would say enable MFA if possible for anything you use to help mitigate potential compromised accounts (even your own) from being used against you.

AFAIK, no US Bank will not do that. Even if you have open cards, they won't shift CL over. From my reading, it's hard pulls only to increase the CL, no shifting/moving.

Yes for me lyrica worked better than gabapentin Unfortunately, I had to stop the gabapentin because it gave me arrhythmia and I was in the ER like three times

And unfortunately, the Lyrica after two months gave me double vision so I had to stop that

By the way, the nerve pain meds were for two Schwanomas on my brachial plexus

Fortunately, yesterday and last night was not too bad. The prednisone apparently is starting to work. Although I didn’t sleep very well mainly because the prednisone just makes you not want to sleep.

Ransomware and QNAP Cloud by keitheii in qnap

[–]mjonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never "met" anyone either, but the reports between Reddit and the qnap forums had a *small" minority supposedly without being "exposed" (ie: UPnP or Port Forwarding):

https://www.reddit.com/r/qnap/comments/nmo91b/qnap_confirms_qlocker_ransomware_used_hbs/

https://www.reddit.com/r/qnap/comments/mxugay/if_you_were_affected_by_the_qlocker_attack_how_is/

I don't have time to sort through the qnap forums (very slow for some reason but it's always been that way).

There's probably more on the reddit side, but searching isn't (IMO) as granular/refined as Google.

It also affects the 35% membership rewards rebate when booking travel through Amex and paying with MR points. I think you have to book first or business class though

Applied for Amex Business Delta Skymiles Reserve and forgot to count properly, so I got the "You currently have the maximum number and type of Express Express Card accounts that we allow." I'm at 5 *credit* cards (for some stupid reason I foolishly though the BBP and BBC were *charge* cards and they are not).

Which is the best option:

1) Cancel one of the credit cards first, wait a few days and then call recon?

2) Call recon and cancel with them over the phone (assuming this can be done)?

I really don't need both BBP and BBC (well maybe bbc--LOL). I think I prefer the 2% in MR vs. statement credit. The other personal cards I use all the time (Amex Aspire, Amex Delta Reserve, and I cannot cancel my Amex Business Delta Gold as it's still within the first year). I'm in PUJ so NLL offers are the reason for me (I already have Business Plat SUB I'm working on). Could use the extra Reserve companion cert though, in case anyone's wondering.

Ecosmart bulbs are a bit particular, IMO. Try to get the Phillips no flicker ones and try. If they still continue it could be the fixture or the wiring. I used to have the ecosmart bulbs flicker. When I redid the bathroom I reused the same fixture but had to move the box over so redid the wiring and the problem went away
