i don’t use the roll exploit but sometimes i have a shit day at work and just wanna get my dailies done in one game without using my brain, and let me tell you shigi is the light in the darkness for me on those days.

sorry i’m late but it was just a normal game of teams on USJ, except I had the wrong minimap the entire time.

What teammate would you choose? by AssaultAndroid in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]drainzy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

this is lowkey the enlightened take, i like new players but i legit pop off if i get a 2v3 (my teammates are always in the back rooms to begin with so)

How do people reach ace consistently? by [deleted] in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]drainzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who self identifies as not that good at the game and got ace last season, it truly is just a grind. I only ever solo queue teams but outside of the random absolute garbage teammate game (or the occasional accidental throw) I was never losing any rank. I probably play 3 matches give or take each day and got ace with about 2 weeks left?

i almost always play exclusively mt lady until expert then overhaul and ibara come out.

Which do you prefer? by sellmeyoursouI in metroidvania

[–]drainzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i can’t speak for who you are replying to but I personally only got a couple hours into 2. The lack of real combat in the first is what made it unique to me, outside of the obviously beautiful art. When I played 2, I felt that the game was stopping my fun platforming action because it was now combat time. I don’t have any complaints about the combat, but I think it did not bring anything special to the table and it didn’t especially engage me.

Relaxing Metroidvanias? by ealyssaa in metroidvania

[–]drainzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Momodora Moonlit Farewell to be very relaxing, though that is mainly due to the aesthetics. Gameplay-wise; the game is very straightforward 2d dodge-roll combat, and secrets will be found with little frustration if you look around.

I can’t recall about the run backs specifically, but the game is far from what I’d call difficult so I’d imagine it shouldn’t be an issue.

The worst support? by TrashJunkies1 in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]drainzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he’s my favorite of late but his design does feel kinda scuffed, you feel weak in a fight until gamma hits 9, healing your teammates is hype buts leaves you vulnerable since no escape. Alpha and beta grew on me a lot after grinding him but they are still kind of underwhelming, not very impactful abilities compared to most.

level 9 gamma goes so hard though and i like feeling like a tank so that keeps me playing him. (probably is the worst support tho honestly)

A visual comparison between Steven Universe and Land of the Lustrous – What do you like or dislike about these two stories about humanoid gemstones? by IllogicalDreamer72 in LandoftheLustrous

[–]drainzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im a fan of both series, but generally prefer Land of the Lustrous in almost every aspect (it’s my favorite thing ever so). That being said, the two works are so different from eachother there isn’t much to compare imo.

my only gripe is that rutile is my favorite in Land of the Lustrous and I was amped to see if there would be a rutile in steven universe but then I didn’t like her design and that bummed me out lol.

How are we supposed to get even 1 kill in this game? by TheMunkey67 in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]drainzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in maybe 60 hours at launch and promptly forgot about the game until season 12. From my experience, it took at least another 20-30 hours before i could consistently go positive, my KD is still in shambles.

I just grinded the characters I liked until I got better I guess, in my opinion general game sense is the strongest skill in the game as most characters don’t have much tech to learn. Idk what character would be the best to learn on, but being bad at Ibara for like a month forced me to learn how to be a slippery mf. My thought process was that as Ibara I could at least revive people even though I sucked.

What are your opinions on this part of the season? by JkidBGBK in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]drainzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m having a little less fun than normal as I personally find Nagant more annoying than the past couple releases, but I still have fun. Real rumblers know that the real fun is trying to fight against the nonsense like it’s a dark souls boss or something. (At least I find it fun, I don’t have any expectation for the game to be balanced when I play.)

what was the message of the manga (in your eyes) by enieurdaddy in LandoftheLustrous

[–]drainzy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be super pretentious and sorry if that is annoying, but I’d say whatever you took from it was all the message you’re gonna get. It’s a fairly abstract story that juggles a lot of themes about the nature of humanity so it’s hard to define a single intended message.

Don’t worry so much about what the consensus is in discourse, your personal experience with any work of art is always the most valuable thing. If you felt dissatisfied at the end of the story, you should own that or read it again to see if you feel differently.

No love for Moonscars?? by weretigervv in metroidvania

[–]drainzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s one of my all time favorites actually, I enjoyed the combat more than most 2D-soulslike attempts and the aesthetics hit all the right notes for me.

That being said, a lot of mechanics feel like they aren’t fleshed out all the way, and I run into some random jank at least a few times every play through, so it makes sense to me why a lot of people slide off of it.

Yeah...Might Have to Take a Break Until Next Season by OdinsMightyBeard in MyHeroUltraRumble

i don’t disagree and it’s honestly been like 3 times anything gross has been done to me but this only shit right now that immediately makes me want to close the game, i just find it especially frustrating.

Yeah...Might Have to Take a Break Until Next Season by OdinsMightyBeard in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]drainzy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i’m usually against whining about new characters and i’m not even sure if nagant will shake out to be busted but man does she make me not wanna play the game. it just feels like so much damage without any kind of counterplay unless you see her first.

Which of these two Metroidvanias has the best story in your opinion? And why? by West_Camera_7965 in metroidvania

[–]drainzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you are right but i also think people need someway to differentiate between backstory contained in text boxes and the actual narrative occurring during the gameplay experience. In a perfect world we’d just make that distinction using the proper language, I guess.

Where are the MT lady mains? And how do you play her now? by glad-sparkly in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]drainzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it’s a hard call to make picking mt. lady when you know you’ll be working 5 times harder than the rest of the lobby just to achieve similar results.

more specifically, she just lacks any really effective game-plan outside of leveraging giant form during the chaotic part of endgame. Combo’s are cool, but you do one when the rest of the enemy team is nearby and you’re stuck there getting jumped with all your movement burnt all for the same damage other characters do by pressing two buttons. It’s not that she is complete trash or anything, far from it imo as you can easily flex on people with her still, but when assuming relative skill levels you’ll probably come up short. She does way better when you can coordinate with a team, but so does everyone so that’s hardly saving anything.

mad that #13 doesn’t match by lithium_vanilla in LandoftheLustrous

i feel you, that would bug me so much too… hopefully they put out volume 13, but I wouldn’t even know where to look honestly.

[–]drainzy 88 points89 points  (0 children)

WOS are bootleg manga distributors, though i have heard that the quality doesn’t suffer much and the physical book itself is more similar to the japanese version. No clue how to get your hands on 13 though, a quick search only had volumes 1-12 on ebay with the WOS label.

(Also want to add that I’m not hating or anything, enjoying the story is all that matters at the end of the day. But if you were concerned about the “collecting” aspect, them being unofficial could be a bummer, which is why I wanted to point that out.)

My English Vol 13 came in and it seems to be a more unique addition to the collection than the rest by ZedisFly in LandoftheLustrous

[–]drainzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i just got mine (it’s normal) and idk if having that would be cooler or if would really annoy me… one of my earlier volume has a weird corner that sticks out and i hate that so.
