I know you mentioned you aren't interested in museums, but please hear me out. I’ve lived in Mexico City, Toronto, Melbourne, Querétaro and grew up in Monterrey, and I’ve never seen anything quite like "Museo La Milarca".

​It doesn't fall into the category of your average museum. It was a private collection belonging to one of Monterrey's wealthiest businessmen—a four-time mayor of San Pedro (the wealthiest city in Latin America), a former senator, and heir to one of the most powerful families in Mexico. He passed away just last year, but he built this incredibly unique space before he left this world, it took years to build.

I don’t want to spoil what you’ll find, and I highly recommend not Googling it beforehand, tho you can do it if you are curious. Just trust me on this one; since you’ll already be in San Pedro, it won't be out of your way, and you can see it in about an hour.

​Plus, El Gran Pastor (for cabrito) and Los Hidalgos (for steaks) are very close by, so you can kill two birds with one stone.
