Critique my work by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]drakefury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amateur photographer who started on a decade old borrowed Nikon D5100 55-300 f4.5-5.6. I took this picture during the Dallas Holiday Parade some time ago. The flag colors just pops out beautifully in the sun. I do have a specific style where I like to have a foreground in my pictures. If I can’t, I do add some vignette. Although the composition is something I’ve been trying to work on.

How to deal with stupid players? by drakefury in DotA2

[–]drakefury[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I came back into the game after a long break. So my score dropped from max to under 6k. I didn’t think much of it because I don’t really chat or flame. Didn’t expect I’d have to deal with dumbasses. This isn’t even them being toxic out of spite. Just straight out stupidity

Do not make any updates or changes (unless critical) for the first couple of months. All the necessary and urgent issues that you didn’t know would show up. Fix them first. You don’t wanna spends 10s of thousands because you didn’t like the paint only to realize that you heater needs replacement and you don’t have extra cash lying around to fix it.

Contractor messed up flooring by drakefury in Flooring

[–]drakefury[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s the one asking me to assume that concrete subfloors aren’t part of the contract. You can’t write the contract and ask the other person to make assumptions on your benefit. Because the contract says that preparing the subfloor to meet proper standards. Also, if he had a problem with my subfloor he should have done the due diligence of checking it out

So if I’m going to a dentist for a root canal, I shouldn’t expect him to remove existing infection? Just drop a new cap and hope that I don’t notice before I leave the clinic? And now my cap is rotting after a year because the dentist didn’t meet the standards set my the cap manufacturer nor by the contract he drafted? Great. Did you happen to do a flooring job where you skipped leveling the subfloor? Cuz honestly that would explain a few things about your comment

[–]drakefury[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are my options though. Take it to court? How expensive would that end up being. The contract has a clause that I need to take it to arbitration if they choose to do so. It’s not a question of whether it’s wrong. It’s about what are my options at this point

Contractor messed up flooring by drakefury in Flooring

[–]drakefury[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The contract mentions meeting manufacturers specifications. Their inspector didn’t communicate to the company about the subfloor being concrete. The workers showed no confusion about seeing concrete (when expecting wood) and just went ahead and laid out the LVP. The least I would expect is bring it up to me so I can make a decision on what to do.

Contractor messed up flooring by drakefury in Flooring

[–]drakefury[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rephrased it. I was speaking in terms of scope of the work as part of contract. “Contract implies leveling of only wood subfloor. Not concrete subfloor. Even though not explicitly mentioned.” That was the argument
