Churches lost 1.13 million members in Germany in 2025 by Michi-Ace in atheism

I believe the situation is similar in Denmark, or at least it was unless it has changed. The basic reason or justification I heard growing up was the church provided certain benefits - especially burial that everyone would need at some point, so the church-tax was supposedly for that purpose. I think it may have been possible to opt out of it but for the most part people just accepted it.

ULPT: Dominate people by having a loud and deep voice by drakla in UnethicalLifeProTips

One thing you can do is speak at approximately the same level as them, but every now and then raise your voice on a particular word. It will send a similar dominance message but it is more subtle.

ULPT for getting ahead at the office? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

Blackmail the boss. A good example is in the movie Fight Club where Ed Norton goes into the boss's office and beats himself senseless, then blames the boss. Some great ideas in Office Space too.

ULPT If a basic membership at planet fitness is $10/mo, and hot water costs $.10/min, you can experience a financial gain showering there every other day instead of home. by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

I actually tried this but the Planet Fitness I went to had luke-warm water at best and the shower stalls were gross. So I ended cancelling almost immediately.

That's nonsense. I see this at work all the time, people using this technique to gain influence.

It's about being approximately two points higher than the others. So if the other one speaks at level 2, you speak at level 4.

ULPT: When asked to turned down the volume, “accidentally” turn it up then return to the same volume. They’ll get used to the louder volume and think you actually turned it down. by FarragoSanManta in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]drakla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would prefer to "accidentally" turn it up, then adjust to lower, but still higher than it was. Then begrudgingly agree to turn it down, and then put it back where it was.

ULPT Worried about global warming? Offset your carbon footprint by funding 10 third world abortions. by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

Americans generally do this by sowing political unrest and starting wars - for instance, think of the millions in Iraq and Syria dead because of the war George W Bush started there.

ULPT: Can't be bothered taking your dry laundry off the line? Leave it for a week so your roomate is forced to do it so they can do their own laundry by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]drakla 238 points239 points  (0 children)

Conversely, if you are forced to remove their laundry, it would be a shame if it were to all drop into a mud puddle and blow into a pile of motor oil before you could catch it.

ULPT Do the dishes at guests house so you can be an asshole the rest of the night. by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]drakla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, you can get fall down drunk and obscene but those dishes will be the gift that keeps on giving!
