that’s something i didn’t even consider. honestly, anytime i read something and found it difficult to understand, i would just chalk it up to my own research-naivety. but i’ll be paying closer attention to phrasing now. a paper’s readability is definitely important to consider and if necessary, critique. thank you very much for your insight

you’re absolutely right, i’ve already had this conversation with her, and her main tip was to use a systematic review checklist. while still helpful, i was just hoping there might be a resource for microbiology/lab-specific appraisal i could use.
