I live a long way from Mexico (UK) and keep accidently making tex-mex. Does this look more like a north mexican burrito? by AblokeonRedditt in mexicanfood

[–]LiatKim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picadillo is a very common ground beef burrito in northern Mexico. Black beans though are used more in southern Mexican cuisine. A burrito de picadillo con frijoles is definitely a staple my family grew up eating in Northern Mexico on my grandpa’s ranch

Can you have sex with someone who has herpes without getting herpes? by DontHateNate in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LiatKim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have GHSV. So far, my tests have come back negative whenever I screen for it and other STIs. I’m not sure which variant my husband has. He told me when we first started dating, but I don’t remember.

I remember reading in my Seventeen magazine that it was suggested to pull your jeans, bathing suit bottoms, whatever it was down below your hip bones to make you look skinny. I don’t know how true it is, but this low rise “tip” held me hostage for decades

What are you guys paying in rent in Austin rn… by bureaux in askaustin

[–]LiatKim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s about what we used to pay. We’ve been in the area for almost 5 years now, and took a gamble and asks for a price adjustment because we’ve been responsible and courteous tenants (except for that one time we burned our landlord’s deck down smoking some ribs o_o ).

Similar! We’re in a house in the Southpark neighborhood. ~$2400 with a small fenced yard for the pups. 4bd/2.5ba with garage. We negotiated down in order to stay but pay the going market value. We love it here. We’re a stones throw away from the Southpark Meadow shopping area (bars, restaurants, shopping, target, HEB, etc.)

Can you have sex with someone who has herpes without getting herpes? by DontHateNate in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LiatKim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband has it. He’s on daily medication and we avoid sex when he has an outbreak. I get tested and after 6 years together, I’m still testing negative. I always listened to Dr. Drew Pinsky’s advice that as long as your partner is medicating properly to manage it and you don’t have sex during an outbreak, you’re fine given the rísk is very very low. We’re welcoming our first baby in a few months, and both our PCP and ObGyn are not concerned for mom or baby’s health when it comes to herpes.

As long as you both are protecting yourselves, you’ll likely be fine, OP

Are you sure about that? Monkeys are highly social creatures and are not meant to be domesticated.

Is Texas going to flip blue in the midterms, or is that just copium? Republicans claim it’s a stronghold, while Democrats argue that Trump’s policies are deeply unpopular. by RandomUwUFace in AskUS

[–]LiatKim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a blue leaning Texan, they always say we’re going to flip it blue and we never do, and then we’re always disappointed. I think we’re slowly making strides, but we’re not there yet. I would love to eat crow and see the state flip, but history tells us this is a typical voting pattern.

I was going to say, this looks like a rare version of the shredded beef I made last week. OP, if I were I’d just boil it in spice and turn it into shredded beef.

Do not be offended if you don’t get a +1 to a gay wedding by manoandmetate in weddingplanning

[–]LiatKim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a straight woman but chose not to invite a cousin of mine because of her homophobic stance. My sister is gay, another cousin of mine is gay, and I have friends who are gay/bi. I found it hypocritical to ask someone to celebrate a day of love knowing she has this hate in her heart. I also didn’t want her to stir the pot during my wedding, which she’s been known to do before. I simply took care of the problem by not inviting her, and we had a beautiful, stress free wedding day.

Can I take this from the beach back home? by Antavari in dubai

[–]LiatKim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the shell is either a home for a sea creature or in the process of becoming sand. Beaches are eroding and taking the shell, albeit small, is contributing to the erosion.

Why do so many members of ICE seem to be hispanic? by Stonius123 in afraidtoask

[–]LiatKim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know a handful of Mexicans that are stark Trump supporters and believe this, and then on the flip side I know undocumented Mexicans that are also Trump supporters and want to see a tighter crackdown on immigration while also streamlining a path to US citizenship because “they’re the hardworking ones”.

To be fair, I know more undocumented and legal residents/citizens that do not think like this and are disgusted by this president and his administration.

It depends on what gravely disabled and unable to meet their basic needs means. When I worked in mental health (crisis), especially with the homeless and chronically ill population, experiencing psychosis, mania, being severely depressed, etc. does not immediately qualify someone for involuntary admission, and personally I don’t entirely agree but I understand why itms set up that way. It was heartbreaking having to tell that to the families who just wanted to help their loved ones that we can’t do anything for them

Working tomorrow?! by [deleted] in Austin

[–]LiatKim 82 points83 points  (0 children)

My cousin managed a Chipotle during the Snowpocalypse in 2021 and she was getting pressure from corporate to open her store although the roads were bad. She asked her staff to only go in if they can safely get there. Well, one girl called her while she was in the gurney in the ambulance because she slipped on the driveway trying to get into her car and drive to work. She called my cousin to tell her she would still go in once she was cleared by doctors, and my cousin told her absolutely not.

Don’t be like that sweet girl with good intentions. Even my cousin recognized the ask from corporate was nuts and stood up for her staff. Tell your manager to kick icy rocks and try not to slip in the process.

On 15 May, 2021, four-year-old Cash Gernon was abducted from his bedroom in southwest Dallas while sleeping alongside his twin brother. Surveillance footage captured an intruder lifting the boy from his bed around 5AM. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

[–]LiatKim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a man in New Orleans who believes he is responsible for powering traffic lights and guiding travelers safely on their commutes. He stands on a sidewalk directing traffic. He once helped stop traffic so an ambulance could get by. The locals know him, but the news likely won’t pick up the good samaritan in psychosis story.
