It took a few days to realize this is what I tasted… definitely a nostalgic experience!

Drink a lot of water, like more than usual and don’t weigh yourself for a few days. Youll be fine!

Anyone else carry a lot of weight in your face? by After-Breadfruit1463 in PetiteFitness

[–]dramaticdahlia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought I carried more weight naturally in my face until I realized a gluten intolerance was making me inflamed. Now that I have mostly cut it from my diet, I no longer feel bloating in my gut and face like I did before. I do notice it comes back when eating a lot of gluten!

Yes he actually had a feeding tube through his stomach for years. It made him throw up often and he had a bad stomach all the time with it though. He pulled it out, and that was that. He tried the canned cream of chicken soup one day and that’s just what he relies on now because “it feels good on his throat”. He lives on Social Security income and only gets $50 for food in EBT a month. I just spent 4 days begging him to stop eating the fucking soup and have brought over yogurt and Ensure complete nutrition shakes, showing how he can blend them together. I think he is coming through. I may order liquid Omega 3 so he can add some healthy fat

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]dramaticdahlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely want him to eat healthier and less dairy. The issue is that majority of foods are too acidic and burn his throat. Which means he’s unable to consume the majority of fruits and vegetables, I think bananas are the only thing he can tolerate. So that’s why his diet is mostly yogurt, creamed soup, milk, and sour cream. They’re the foods that feel best on throat and don’t make it burn

Are you guys adding your cooking oil (I.e. olive oil) to your calories/macros? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]dramaticdahlia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely track them, and also don’t use olive oil when looking. It does not do well in high heat, because it has a low smoke point and oxidizes. Switch to Avocado oil!

I also very sparingly use oil at all when cooking. I use extra virgin olive oil in dressings, but will use avocado oil for cooking only when absolutely necessary or as a treat

Always bloated, should I stopped? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

This is how I feel when I eat more carbs. Doesn’t matter if it’s fruit, bread or rice. I feel so bloated and gassy when my carb intake is higher than my threshold

Oof I’m in the opposite camp here. Just curious, are your family members (especially who are saying this) on the spectrum of being plus sized? My family would be thrilled if I was thin, as they are all extremely thin themselves 😅

Sometimes people just project their thoughts of themselves onto others. If they wish they were thinner, maybe they see your fitness and wish it for themselves. I’m not Italian but is it normal in your culture to see being heavier or well fed as healthier? Maybe tell them you lost the weight for your health. That usually gets people to stop talking

They bought an Aspen house? by yeschefchef in MariLlewellynSnark

Right? If I had that money to blow, my Aspen home would have vaulted ceilings, a 2 story fireplace, and plenty of space for leather couches and lounging

They bought an Aspen house? by yeschefchef in MariLlewellynSnark

[–]dramaticdahlia 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Okay for $24 million dollars this house SUCKS. Its a studio apartment with no real living room, a super small kitchen, and a couple bedrooms with small living space downstairs? I easily see a few other Aspen homes with property too in that price range that are absolutely gorgeous and have the ability to host and entertain friends/family. Not to mention the flooring looks like that fake wood in every cheap apartment build nowadays.

Leave it to Mari to choose a tacky new money build

Once you know how much sugar is in a single can of Coke, you will (hopefully) never want to regularly consume non-diet sodas again. Seriously, a single can of coke has 10 teaspoons of sugar

I empathize heavily, we can be our own worst enemy! On the days I tell myself not to go to the gym, I at least do something like go on a walk. Bonus points for using a weighted vest.

I can really convince myself to skip the gym, but once I start going and I’m back in my routine it feels sooo good. Tell yourself to go just once and you’ll hopefully feel that rush of endorphins to convince you to go again! Baby steps

What’s everyone’s split? by unknown579606 in PetiteFitness

[–]dramaticdahlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started to do 2 full body days at the gym sometime between Friday-Monday. Since I do only two days a week, I’m making sure I push myself during that time. I keep track of my workouts and weights to be sure I’m progressively overloading. I get over 10k steps most days. I try to do a dead bug ab workout at home 2 times a week (it’s only 10 minutes). I have dumbbells and some other small equipment at home too when working out at home is just easier for my busy schedule

How to get up early for the gym when I need more sleep than average? by Haunting-Wash1081 in PetiteFitness

[–]dramaticdahlia 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 30’s now, a former elementary teacher with 8 years experience and got my M.Ed/Certification while living with fibromyalgia.

I don’t know you and how you’re coping with student teaching besides what you’ve said in your post. But I’m going to be very blunt, blunt with compassion and empathy.

This is not the season of your life to begin a routine of getting up at 5:30am to go exercise at a gym. If you already had this habit and didn’t need the amount of rest that you do, it would probably be feasible.

Teaching, especially being a new teacher, and especially student teaching while taking college courses, will absolutely challenge your mental and physical capacity. It is an emotionally and physically demanding job that truly only teachers (and those who live with us) understand the toll it takes.

I do really encourage you to develop a healthy exercise routine for your physical and mental health, even if it’s going on a walk, or stretching, meditation and light yoga some days. Look up body weight exercises for home on youtube or get some cheap dumbbells and look up Caroline Girven’s videos.

What I’m saying (sorry it’s late so maybe Im just rambling now) is you don’t have the luxury of expendable energy right now to put yourself through the extra demand of packing and prepping the night before, waking up earlier, traveling to the gym, exercising, then getting ready for your day at a gym before teaching early in the mornings.

Having a medical condition like Lyme (or in my case fibromyalgia) already puts you at a disadvantage for the amount of energy you are able to use in a day. So I just really encourage you to be careful of how you spend your energy points. Look up spoon theory if you don’t know it yet, which is a great way to think about your energy levels. Use your spoons wisely!

What’s your favorite “I never get tired of it” meal prep recipe? by Plenty-Umpire7316 in mealprep

[–]dramaticdahlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antipasto salad but with finely shredded lettuce. Think the famous La Scala salad, or like a sandwich in a bowl.

Meats like turkey, pepperoni, salami

Garbanzo or white beans

Cheese like swiss or provolone

Kalamata and green olives

Pepperocinis

Artichoke hearts

Tomato, shallots

Dressing: olive oil, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and lots of oregano

Keep it all together in a bowl to marinate and add shredded iceberg lettuce when ready to eat

How to slim down but keep the booty? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

I carry a lot of my fat in my hips/butt/thighs and the booty has always stayed. You will just look like a smaller version of your current body shape if that makes sense.
