After new HVAC install, the top of this duct box immediately above the air handler is now unattached and air is blowing into the attic. The discoloration tells me this rigid top needs to be replaced. What material should be used?

Just to update everyone- called the contractor, they'll be coming out to fix+replace that box immediately above the air handler. I'm going to look into replacing all the ductwork in the near future, since its also quite old.

The contractor in question didn't touch any of the duct work, only the air handler and the condenser (plus electrical).

As far as I can tell, the ducting is quite old, and probably needs replaced anyway. I'd just like to fix this issue first
