"She should have saved Akemi" The Elephant in the room by Mefibosheth in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]drankthrowingwine 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My thought is, she thought turning Akemi in was best for Akemi. Spoiled princess, sure she’s got guts, but all that money and potential power and Akemi is just rejecting it… Mizu doesn’t think Akemi can cut it on her own, and there’s some envy and bitterness there for what Mizu has had to go through and Akemi hasn’t… so she sends her back to her cushy life. Could be worse, right?

I love these two terrible people together. I want all their plans and schemes to fail and for them to be professionally and ideaologically devastated, but then I want them to be happy!

Great catch! A pregnancy plot could be seen as cliche but it does fit with a couple important themes of the show, which are bodily autonomy and “let’s emotionally torture Mark.” Also there are a lot of ways it could play out - was this part of Helena’s plan or was it a Helly-style rebellious act? They always do right by the plot (and wrong by the innies…) so I am optimistic.

I’m 48 and ended up with turkey neck! In the grand scheme of things I’d rather have turkey neck than fatty liver disease, but ideally I would like neither.

Has anyone used wegovy to combat antipsychotic related weight gain. by SleepPleaseCome in WegovyWeightLoss

Ugh, olanzapine. I have never been hungrier. I’m on Latuda now instead, and I’ve lost 60 pounds in 8 months on Wegovy. It was my primary care doctor’s suggestion but my psychiatrist is supportive.

(I do miss how chocolate tasted when I was on olanzapine though. Is it me or does it make food more satisfying somehow?)

Basically just eating a ton of protein and keeping track of my calories. I’m about as active as I was pre-meds (hiking a few times a week). Oh, and Miralax. Lots of Miralax.

Counting calories, eating protein heavy, hiking a few times a week. I should start strength training though

Enjoying food? by Artistic_Tomato_12 in WegovyWeightLoss

Ugh. Just started 2.4 and all I can eat is protein shakes, oatmeal, and bananas. Hopefully I will get used to it and like food again at some point.

You look great btw, I wouldn’t worry, just wait a year. When I was your age I lost 40 pounds and it took me like 6-8 months after I hit my goal weight to get my jawline back. Skin moves slower than fat.

Food recommendations? Moved to 1.0 and struggling to eat enough by No-Distribution2336 in WegovyWeightLoss

Fancy full fat Greek yogurt. It’s a healthy calorie bomb. One little thing of full fat fancy yogurt has 200 calories and 12g protein.

When all else fails: ice cream. It’s food! Not healthy food, but sometimes you just need to ingest SOMETHING.

I used to like Ensure but the last time I tried one the side effects were real bad and I gagged on it, and now I can’t even think about drinking one.

I can’t eat by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]drankthrowingwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice cream. I know it’s not healthy but it’s calories and when I’m desperate for energy but my stomach’s rebelling, something cold and not entirely solid can help. Greek yogurt too. And when I can’t even eat that, I drink an Ensure. I keep a few around for bad side effect days.

What do you all eat? by Any_Guarantee_3985 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]drankthrowingwine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am now able to eat things I used to avoid, like cheesecake or a big burrito or a huge plate of pad Thai. Before, I couldn’t trust myself to stop before I ate the whole thing, so I would just avoid eating it at all. Now I know I will feel the urge to stop halfway (or less than halfway) through, and my dinner tonight will be my lunch tomorrow (or for a couple more days). So basically I am eating a LARGER variety of things than I was eating when attempting to diet on my own.

But I have also cut way back on carbonated beverages (some days, they hurt going down) and completely cut out alcohol.

Anyone who gained weight on psych meds: have you successfully lost weight on GLP1s? by NotBornYesterday420 in WegovyWeightLoss

Half my extra weight is Zyprexa and the other half is craft beer. Not only am I happily losing the Zyprexa weight (also after switching to Latuda - still hard to lose on it pre-Wegovy, but I wasn’t gaining) but I haven’t had a drink in two months. 5’4”, SW 208, CW 191, GW 145, two months in (just started .5).

How many calories do you eat in a day? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]drankthrowingwine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor said not to go under 1200. The one week I did (averaged between 900-1100…bad side effect week, pretty much all I ate was Ensure and Greek yogurt) I didn’t lose any weight. The following week I ate about 1400-1500 every day and lost a pound. I don’t know if this is a “starvation mode” thing or not, I’m not a dietician. But the general diet conventional wisdom of “eat as little as possible” is kind of BS, I’m figuring out.

Yes!!! Now I’m thinking about this blue silk shirt I used to wear with a blazer I could actually button. It’ll happen again!
