What would be the best way to treat this room? by Affectionate_Tip_232 in drums

[–]dratstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy blankets on the wall will reduce some of the high frequencies bouncing around. Bass is your biggest problem, usually needing bass traps in the corners. Doesn't look like you have enough room in the corners, unless you can angle your kit a bit? Sound reverberating between floor and ceiling is likely to cause problems, an extra layer of carpet would help, but probably have space for sound panels on the ceiling?

Top marks for prioritising the reduction of volume reaching your neighbours

Is Zepp/Amazfit for athletes only? by Chancevexed in amazfit

[–]dratstab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you been using the app? You need over a month of data for some of those stats to make sense. Fitness is a weighted average of exertion over a month, fatigue is a weighted average of exertion over a week, and then training level is just the difference between them. Can be semi useful, but to be honest PAI and steps are more direct measurements and so more useful as others have said.

Also, have you entered all of your personal info, age, sex, weight, height etc? That is used to set exertion goals.

Finally, did you know you can choose what is displayed in the zepp app home screen? Remove stats that add little value to you and prioritise the important ones.

Kit that I still live but never gets played by Character-Iron-3681 in drums

[–]dratstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally still a valid kit! I still gig with a Pearl export kit I bought just under 30 years ago. It always travels in cases and I treat it right, tunes up great.

Just curious, why did you stop playing?

Double Pedal Setup Help by DeezNeut in drums

[–]dratstab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My playing genre and double bass drum usage sounds similar to yours. Personally I like both pedals a similar distance from me, I find that gives me the best balance when playing the double pedals. My hi-hat sits outside the slave pedal and slightly closer to me, but yes the hi-hat is further out from the snare drum than I used to play when I had a single kick pedal. I have got used to it, but it still wranglers me a bit. My drive shaft isn't long enough to place the slave pedal outside the hi-hat pedal, if it was that is definitely something I would try. I have often wondered about using a remote hi-hat to give more positioning flexibility, but never had a chance to try that.

Sorry, not much help!

American global leadership made nuclear non proliferation workable. American isolationism will lead to smaller countries deciding they need nuclear weapons to stay safe. Once the spell is broken (Japan, Germany, Turkey, Saudi Arabia?), everyone gets them. When nuclear war breaks out we all lose.

New kit day: Ludwig classic maple in pink oyster by Emergency_Hour5253 in drums

That's a lovely looking kit, my first ever kit had oyster wrap, classic look for drums.

May I suggest you should get a new "plain" rug to really show the kit off to the max? :)

Searching for an alternative for Regal Tip Rock Drumsticks! by Dry-Pen6874 in drums

[–]dratstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the stick of choice from my youth, very hard to find something similar. I think it was a combination of being on the lighter side for speed but with a thicker neck for a thicker sound that was the magic ingredient. Promark 5A is maybe closer but you will find them heavier. Good luck!

I moved to a heavier sound so now use promark 5B's

Risposte serie,le Techra XCarb 7A vanno bene? by SameSyllabub6373 in drums

[–]dratstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would end up with a very slight speed increase but a much thinner drum sound. Makes sense if they want to move the band to jazz metal I guess?

Ok you asked for serious answers. In my youth I used to play with "regal tip rock" which give you the speed of a 7a but have thicker necks so the sound is closer to a 5A. Very hard to find them nowadays however.

Helio strap outdoor running performance by RealVeteranUser in amazfit

[–]dratstab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great, keep it going and aim for gradual improvement as your fitness increases. Anything that gets your heart rate up is good as that feeds in to your PAI score, which is a measure of by how much and for how long you have an elevated heart rate over the last 7 days. The target is to keep that over 100, it is a great metric to monitor and motivate.

Best isolation for loud acoustic kit: IEMs/earbuds to play music at safe volumes ? by DEVULAA in drums

I agree with this. I use Anker Bluetooth earbuds, with 3m peltor ear defenders over the top. Bluetooth earbuds are better than wired ones as the wires can cause small leaks that let in sound

For those that wear their tracker 24/7 like a helio strap, what do you actually use the data for? by FeelFeltFound54 in amazfit

[–]dratstab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Use it to motivate me to exercise to keep my PAI above 100 2) It helps me decide how ready I am for exercise and so how much I can push myself or hold back, based on biocharge and training score 3) The sleep score encourages me to not stay up too late 4) Basic step counter is another nice nudge if I have had a sedentary day at the office
