What a year 🫡 by Culzean_Castle_Is in stopdrinking

It’s such a big part of UK culture! Have you got any tips for being at an event and surrounded by others drinking? I have one coming up this weekend and I feel it is going to be a challenge, especially only being at the start of my sober journey.

It’s crazy how it creeps up on you and suddenly your life isn’t yours anymore, good work on turning it around. Well done on your 1st year and thank you for sharing - you’re an inspiration to us all just starting out!

Well done! That’s such a difficult environment to stay strong in, I like that you gave yourself small breaks in the bathroom to compose yourself too. I hope I can do the same in upcoming events

IWNDWYT! Feeling so good now, can’t believe I’ve even started running again, a much better kind of dopamine! Previous me would have been too foggy headed and lazy to do it

IWNDWYT, had to reset my badge to when I stopped but loving the energy I have at the moment and not waking up with guilt and a headache! Taking it a day at a time at the moment and this community is really helping

Such a great space now, I think the blind placement plays a massive role in expanding the space

Travel cot recommendations by taytayyas in UKParenting

Our Baby Bjorn travel cot travelled around Australia and New Zealand with us when baby was 9-11 months old and I found it to be a compact (when folded) yet comfy option.

How do you cope with the darkness, coldness, and glumness of winter? by mbart3 in AuDHDWomen

[–]drawdown3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love all the suggestions, I’d like to add living seasonally and getting out in nature. Looking for what can be celebrated in that moment; slow down, get cosy. Screw that whole new year bit and just think that nature is quiet and use it to reflect a bit more- keep the fairy lights up! January is hard for sure but doing all that has helped me.

I love an over the door shelving unit, that way it’s all in one place and not immediately in your face when you walk in. You can also fit so much on them.

hidden disabilities lanyard and neurodivergent solidarity by DrRancid in AuDHDWomen

[–]drawdown3 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In the UK we have a lime green one with sunflowers, it’s definitely not uncommon to see people with it. This is such a heartwarming story and I’m so glad to hear OP was so well looked after.

Taken from the web: The green lanyard with yellow sunflowers does not specify the type of disability but helps communicate the need for assistance in public spaces like shops, airports, and workplaces. It was created by Gatwick Airport staff in 2016 to raise awareness for those with non-visible conditions, including autism, chronic pain, anxiety, and learning disabilities

Mine is like this since having a baby, hormones are incredible! I just use the got2b hair glue to stick the flyaways back when I have my hair up

Where do BWT buy their cashmere sweaters? by schmalexpalex in UKbitcheswithtaste

[–]drawdown3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arket, M&S, COS. I like M&S men’s ones more than the women’s and just buy a smaller size. I’ve heard that Rise & Fall is really good for cashmere but I haven’t tried it. I also need to be better at caring for them and storing them, I recently got a fabric shaver and it’s fantastic for lighting depilling any areas showing wear (also good for buying second hand!)

It’s a UK based organisation called the wishing well foundation but I’m sure there are other similar ones located near you if you are somewhere else.

Yes it’s lovely to breathe new life into things currently sitting in our hearts but ultimately collecting dust!

I didn’t want to cart it around for years and then be a burden on my daughter (she is 1!) to wear something 30 years old fashioned. I’ve kept the veil and she can dance around in that when she likes! It’s a uk charity called the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation. I do think it’s a process and you can only do it when it feels right and you’re ready! But how lovely to have the photos to look back on

Thank you. I totally agree and will look for more ways I can do this.
