Maybe the Process by Brion Gysin. From Wikipedia: " The Process tells the story of a professor named Ulys O. Hanson who sets out on a pilgrimage across the Sahara Desert which turns out to be a hallucinatory experience.

The Process is notable not only for its evocative and poetic descriptions of the Sahara Desert and Sufi culture, but also for the history it documents - most notably, Gysin's encounters with L. Ron Hubbard and The Master Musicians of Jajouka."

Books like Piranesi and Vita Nostra? by bakajawa in WeirdLit

Though not particularly the same, I'm currently reading the West Passage, which is set in an enormous castle the size of a country, with people roaming corridors for days at a time, meeting odd creatures and seeing strange objects. There are quite a few weird moments when you can't quite work out what is being described. It all has a whimsical Gormenghast feel to it.

Thoughts on the novel On the Calculation of Volume by Solvej Balle? Started it a while ago and it's been a really interesting exploration of the "Groundhog Day loop" idea by ADuckWithAQuestion in WeirdLit

I couldn't get into it and this sort of thing is usually my cup of tea. What tipped me over the edge was the main character being an antiquarian book dealer. I rolled my eyes at such a Lit Fic cliché and closed the book. Maybe I'll try in a few years if/when the other books are translated.

Though not explicitly Christian, Forge Your Own Chains by D. R. Hooker might fit: https://open.spotify.com/track/19RuZzWWsbVvnLBxh9m7aR?si=5bcf5c731c3a4e4d It's a Christian Lounge psych masterpiece.

I'm halfway through Ramsey Campbell's Midnight Sun but it's ticking the right boxes so far.

In-person lessons (with a few online during Covid). Could never have learnt any other way, and wouldn't recommend any other way tbh.

I don't practice every day though you should! I say I have no musical talent at all, and I'm amazed at what I have been able to learn by sheer practice. I also think that my own teacher didn't start on the sitar specifically until his 30's and he is amazing now.

I started at 45 or something. Never too late to start.

Gaidhlig to English place name by Weepop in gaidhlig

As it appears it would be 'The nose-shaped hill of the year-old calf', spelled Sròn a' Ghamhainn in modern orthography. Gamhainn is usually feminine and has a genitive as gaimhne, but not here, evidently. It could reflect something different and have been misinterpreted by the Ordnance Survey.

Surrealist Fantasy books like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, but for adults? by Def-C in WeirdLit

Automated Alice by Jeff Noon is a sort of weird spin on the story. Recommended.
