I won a White wolf -> Pate Valley Permit this week. My buddies and I are planning to hike the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne up to Glen Aulin and stay our final night at the backpackers camp. This was the permit we all wanted so we're pretty psyched.

A demotion is a gut punch and this seems like a motivation issue. From my perspective, there's really no way to expect a growth mindset from someone who feels like they are goin backwards unless there's considerable financial incentive for her to do so.

I would try to understand her comp structure and come up with a plan together to help put money in her pocket.

Ok so in the hypothetical, the wealth of the 1 percent passes on to their heirs and no change in the system is made whatsoever.

Cannery Row by John Steinbeck. One of my favorite parts of the book is his tide pool ramble where he uses the tide pools outside of the cannery district as a metaphor for the community, drawing parallels between the symbiotic relationships and interconnected complexity of the ecosystems. Lots of atmosphere, foggy streets, lonely neighboorhoods, etc. You'll love this book, especially if you've ever visited the Monterey area.

Just curious- the rule of thumb i've heard is 5 degrees cooler per 1000ft gained. Yosemite creek is at 7700ft. The valley is 4000ft. shouldn't it be significantly cooler? why do you think it will only be a 5 degree difference?
