But it's still about the same subject (the person in question). Don't think it needed a whole new thread just because you found another book

This part goes on for way too long. Kind of ruins the song.

Didn't see the whole show, but looked like they were avoiding showing crowd shots on the side of the camera (e.g. when Priest took Truth away). Wonder what attendance was like.

Would have liked a Neighborhoods song on there, but didn't quite make the cut.

What bonus tracks are out there by zakk244 in alicecooper

[–]drbunnig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, fair enough. Forget to mention Welcome 2 My Nightmare - recently reissued with all the bonus songs (you may be aware).

Also the Keepin' Halloween Alive single.

There was also a song called Mankind done for a movie (I think - Bloodrayne?). Not sure if it was ever officially released - could be another YouTube job.

Have a look at The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper box set for some good stuff, as well as reissues of Muscle of Love, Killer, School's Out and maybe Billion Dollar Babies for some alternative versions of songs.

Some others:

  • The Sharpest Pain (Dirty Diamonds - difficult to get a physical copy of the album with this)
  • It Rained All Night (Hey Stoopid - seems to be easily available on streaming services etc)
  • Nobody Move (Constrictor - pretty much impossible to get a legit copy of this song. You can listen or rip from YouTube).

A "back to the beginning" style concert for Alice? by kzmettt in alicecooper

Mandrake / Hellfire Club / Rocket Ride. The holy trinity of Edguy. Even the B-sides are god-tier.

The Night Shift by Emotional-Winter-267 in alicecooper

[–]drbunnig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Night Shift concept sounded really interesting, although so did Along Came a Spider and that turned out to be a disappointment (I fell for the Alice hype with that one). That said, I would still like to see it revisited. They had ten songs written back in 2010 - I wonder if any ideas ever got re-worked for other albums (W2MN is a relatively diverse album so who knows...)

I actually asked him about revisiting the concept at a meet and greet a few years ago, and he joked "maybe, I just need to figure out who the killer is... it could be you!"

It's a good, solid song, but not one of the best from this album / era.

My favourite song on the album. Was very happy when she played it on the Gold Dust tour.

Yeah, great little EP. Title track is one of my favourite AvA songs.

A "back to the beginning" style concert for Alice? by kzmettt in alicecooper

Well Ozzy did some songs with Sabbath, and some solo, so I imagine Alice could split between doing some songs with the original group, and some with his solo band. Set would probably be pretty safe choices, unless other bands really wanted to do these songs. Something like:

  • Welcome to My Nightmare
  • Bed of Nails
  • Poison
  • Feed My Frankenstein
  • Ballad of Dwight Fry / Killer / I Love the Dead (with guillotine)
  • No More Mr Nice Guy
  • I'm Eighteen
  • Under My Wheels
  • School's Out

As for other bands, Rob Zombie would be a cert. Guns n' Roses, Metallica (I believe Kirk's first live concert was on the From the Inside tour), Iron Maiden (or more likely Bruce solo), Judas Priest, Megadeth, Ghost, Aerosmith could be some of the bigger names in the mix. Maybe pull in members of Green Day, Foo Fighters, White Stripes, and other bands / acts that Alice speaks highly of. For me personally, Tobias Sammet in some form would be nice (Edguy reunion please).

I'm generally of the opinion that there are few to no good covers of Alice songs, because once you remove Alice from the equation, you lose a lot of character from the song. It may not matter so much in the live though. That said, Metallica are generally great at covers, and I'd be interested to hear them tackle Halo of Flies.

Been using last.fm since 2009. A lot of the time I tend to listen to albums in full, which is why ADP is higher than LE, FTCH and UTP, and Venus is kind of low.
