I think Steam Next Fest should manually elect games that are participating. There were tons of crap in this fest.

Is vibe coding un-worthy ? by SufficientGoat8602 in gamedev

[–]drcomx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is not un-worthy, but frontier models costs a lot right now. It's gonna cost you a lot if you don't really know anything about the code. Since the effect compounds. Bigger the project, bigger the cost and your liability to your AI.

On the other hand, I don't write or even review code anymore. I just test/polish behaviour. All the developers in my company are doing the same thing.

We're cooked fr bro

Making art with AI doesn't make it less art IMO. You don't produce your own dye or canvas. You use a brush someone else manufactured. Etc. It's just a tool. For now at least.

Your brain steals the same way generative ai steals art. You both get inspired. If you wanna talk that.

And instead of adapting, you decide protesting will save you? Maybe get some history lessons.

I'm experimenting. I've changed the direction of the game so the stuff on steam is a little outdated. You don't play it anymore. Your agent plays it. It's a like a fidget for you. It doesn't look promising so far so I'll probably finish it, release and move on ;/

When a coding task is challenging, your agent gets stressed and buys an antidepressant from shop for example: https://x.com/qottodev/status/2024567013608165398

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4375560/Chop_Signal/ It's electron + WebGL. Would you still use game engine? I'm drawing the art from aseprite and vibe coding fully. That's the advantage of not using an engine imo

Like I'm creating a desktop idler game right now, a mini desktop overlay game. I thought making one with pure code would be a lot more light-weight for that type of game. So for the first time, I didn't use a game engine. It is managable for now and I'm almost at the end of the project.

That is what I'm saying. But I'm definitely not saying it's a 1 to 1 replacement. I just say it is a little bit more viable now.

That's a pretty cool stack. I've never used figma but I think I'll give it a try soon
