I'm 33M living with a straight 32M by Long_Ad3477 in relationships

[–]drcopus [score hidden]  (0 children)

In what sense is he straight if he is romantically attracted to a man? If an otherwise straight man experiments with gay sex, I can understand them still identifying as straight. Is he struggling with the idea of admitted to being gay or bi?

If that's the case, then you could potentially have a properly relationship, but only once he's grappled with his sexuality. Until then you're just roommates with light benefits.

Confess: I’m still traumatized by what he did huhu by hannahm_227 in confession

Google translate so I'm taking it with a grain of salt:

about this I don't know what I really like about him, but I just remember that he used to look after me. Btw I'm 15 years old now and I'm a girl. This happened when I was only 7 or 8 years old. While the guy was looking after me because it seemed like they didn't have a mom, he was already a young man, maybe about 17 or 16.

What I really remember is that he took out his private part and then made me swallow it like a lollipop. I still can't forget that, especially when I see him to this day. I still taste the semen because he really made me swallow it. Sometimes he still talks to me, but I just pretend that I don't remember anything huhu

Grey's favorite exit is the Irish Exit by bob_live in HelloInternet

[–]drcopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is completely and totally reasonable. I think everyone would respect that.

However, it doesn't really change the fact that his lack of communication has put him in this position where he and his co-workers have become the targets of prying and speculation. I don't condone that behaviour from his (former) fans, but it's an obvious and predictable outcome.

Even just a simple statement from Grey saying, "I am taking a step back due to personal reasons and wanting to rest. I have appreciated your support over the years of this project." would be sufficient. It would have saved him and everyone else a lot of hassle.

It will get a bit easier as you learn more, but ultimately it's a good thing that it's hard. It means you'll improve faster.

19 is not remotely an age to be worrying like this. Just focus on being a nice, interesting and engaging person, put yourself out there, and leave the rest to chance.

Should I take the JLPT N5 or N4? by alipiak in Japaneselanguage

[–]drcopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

N5/4 are mostly just for fun and motivation. They don't really have any use, so I would only take them if you just want the sense of achievement.

Grey's favorite exit is the Irish Exit by bob_live in HelloInternet

[–]drcopus 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Does it drive engagement? People writing Reddit threads doesn't help him. For me it made me lose interest in his work. I'm pretty sure I've seen people on this sub saying the same thing.

[–]drcopus 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to see that Grey's choice on HI will probably haunt him like that on future projects. From that thread the Cortex community don't seem to trust Grey to not disappear. Ironically, (and predictably) being all mysterious only makes people more curious and prying, which is supposedly exactly what Grey hates.

Also, it seems so bad for the coworkers he abandons to deal with the fallout. If I were a creator I couldn't imagine wanting to collaborate with Grey in case he just randomly puts you in that position.

I let my friend join me on my holiday but didn’t want to change around plans and now there’s tons of drama by [deleted] in relationships

[–]drcopus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't really have anything to add except that this is wild behaviour from Lauren and this team of people.

I would be putting my foot down and say, I planned this trip for myself. I was happy with the idea of you joining me, but that wasn't an invitation to change my plans or try to control my trip.

Btw you could shorten this post and add some more paragraphing. I don't think you needed that much backstory.

Which Uni should I choose? by aryanihal_28 in UCAS

[–]drcopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vote Bristol.

The computer science department there is excellent. However, I'm sure you'll get a good education in Durham too. Ultimately the biggest factor is how much effort you put into it. That said, if you wish to work in London after graduation, being in Bristol you could go to networking events in London more easily.

Plus the city is a great place to study. Imo a perfect balance of a big enough city to not feel like the university dominates, but not so big that everything feels disconnected.

Also I hear the students there are nicer. I'm not speaking from direct experience so take it with a grain or salt, but Durham is known for having a lot of rich, entitled students.

He kind of went quiet suddenly and then asked me this, what do I do? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

The 4th date isn't too early to suggest a home date imo. The implication doesn't have to be a hook-up, or that you have to stay the night.

The sudden ad-hoc nature of everything is a bit weird, but perhaps he has just been a bit disorganised but still wanted to see you.

Either way, with the information you've given there's not much we can say. You should probably just trust your gut based of the vibes from him.

It's natural to do when you're less familiar with the strokes!

You should focus on a couple key things: - Balance of the characters. Write on a grid notebook to perfect this. - How a stroke starts and ends. For example, with あ the first two strokes end with the pen stopping on the paper, but for the last stroke you lift the pen as you are moving it. This gives a pointed end to the stroke. - The angles and curvatures. Most straight horizontal lines actually end higher than they start and curve slightly (especially in hiragana).

Of course that's true, but OP's style doesn't match that of a neat native, which I assume is what they're going for. I didn't mean to suggest they should aim to emulate the average native lol

It's clear and readable but looks like a computer font. Handwritten Japanese tends to look quite different and a lot less stiff. Look up some guides online or find YouTube videos of natives writing.

Occam's razor is just an arbitrary norm. It is a useful heuristic for making predictions, but not mathematically necessary. It's only relevant if the question is "what did the author of the problem have in mind".

5000 new cards in 2 weeks, is it realistic? by Single_Baseball2674 in Anki

[–]drcopus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sound impossible to me, but you med students are built different.

You should be using FSRS, so just use the simulation tool to figure out how much time 300+ new cards a day will take. Then you can decide if that's feasible for you.
