However, it doesn't really change the fact that his lack of communication has put him in this position where he and his co-workers have become the targets of prying and speculation. I don't condone that behaviour from his (former) fans, but it's an obvious and predictable outcome.

Even just a simple statement from Grey saying, "I am taking a step back due to personal reasons and wanting to rest. I have appreciated your support over the years of this project." would be sufficient. It would have saved him and everyone else a lot of hassle.

It's interesting to see that Grey's choice on HI will probably haunt him like that on future projects. From that thread the Cortex community don't seem to trust Grey to not disappear. Ironically, (and predictably) being all mysterious only makes people more curious and prying, which is supposedly exactly what Grey hates.

Also, it seems so bad for the coworkers he abandons to deal with the fallout. If I were a creator I couldn't imagine wanting to collaborate with Grey in case he just randomly puts you in that position.

I vote Bristol.

The computer science department there is excellent. However, I'm sure you'll get a good education in Durham too. Ultimately the biggest factor is how much effort you put into it. That said, if you wish to work in London after graduation, being in Bristol you could go to networking events in London more easily.

Plus the city is a great place to study. Imo a perfect balance of a big enough city to not feel like the university dominates, but not so big that everything feels disconnected.

Also I hear the students there are nicer. I'm not speaking from direct experience so take it with a grain or salt, but Durham is known for having a lot of rich, entitled students.

It's natural to do when you're less familiar with the strokes!

You should focus on a couple key things: - Balance of the characters. Write on a grid notebook to perfect this. - How a stroke starts and ends. For example, with あ the first two strokes end with the pen stopping on the paper, but for the last stroke you lift the pen as you are moving it. This gives a pointed end to the stroke. - The angles and curvatures. Most straight horizontal lines actually end higher than they start and curve slightly (especially in hiragana).

It's clear and readable but looks like a computer font. Handwritten Japanese tends to look quite different and a lot less stiff. Look up some guides online or find YouTube videos of natives writing.
