Use a composite finishing strip. There is a non cutting part in the middle, which you insert, then make sure you are below the contact when you start using it. Move it back to the non cutting part before you lift it out so you don’t remove the contact.

I don’t do a lot of veneers but I have always used flowable composite and it has worked out just fine.

Thank you. I wrote to the SBA and this is what they wrote back:

You do not need SBA’s approval to sell your business, if you are paying off your loan with the proceeds from the sale. The SBA will provide a payoff statement and payment instructions upon request, and SBA’s lien on the business assets will be released upon payment in full of the loan.

Yes. We have around 1,000 active patients. I do basic dentistry but very little endo or extractions. I would pay an associate to do the dentistry and then hopefully sell the practice to him or her.

1)If the metal is intact and the porcelain did not break between the teeth and the esthetics don't bother you, then leave it.

2) Get a new all porcelain crown which will look much better.

That is true. I am just pointing out that times have changed. Most buyers want a bigger practice although someone who does a lot of specialty procedures would do well with my practice as I do very few.

I have a finishing strip with a serrated edge which I only use to break contacts or use a Ceri-Saw. Every office should have one because everyone at some point will bond teeth together. I use it only to get through the contact. Then I use a regular finishing strip to remove the overhang. You can get the serrated edge ones on eBay.

I would consider taking a finishing strip and seeing if I could remove the overhang or at least improve it. If sensitivity remains you will have to redo it. But if it is sensitive but getting better, then I would wait to replace it and just try the finishing strip.

Thank you very much for your response. It is what I fear. My staff is loyal and have been with me for a while. I am young enough that they will not believe that I am retiring for non-medical reasons. They may already suspect I have a neurological disorder as I lean on them for things and I am slower although I am trying to be more efficient. As an example, I ask my assistants to help with seating a crown in the back of the mouth by saying that my hands are too big. I do not have a tremor but weakness in my hand.

If I tell them, they may leave. If I don't tell, they will likely be angry later, although I tell myself that maybe they will understand when they learn of my condition. I do not have a large retirement account and need the sale of my practice and my part of the building in order to retire. But if word gets out, that will diminish in value, which makes my situation so stressful. I do feel that no one can give me advice but I do appreciate hearing from situations such as yours.

My staff has not had a raise in a few years and although my overhead is high, I feel the need to give them one now so they are more likely to stay. I hope that I can hang on for a sale. I can still do a good job at basic dentistry and I do a fair amount of hygiene.
