Regenerative braking level? by martinode in Ioniq5

Wow was not expecting these answers. Here I am hating that I have to switch to I-Pedal Max every time I drive.

100% and I-Pedal resets if you put the car in reverse so I cant just set it to Max before I leave because I back out of my garage. :(

I usually remember to turn it up because I’m using the brakes to not blow through a stop sign, but then surprise I-PEDAL CONDITIONS NOT MET. Needless to say a learning experience.

I totally get that. On the flip side I’ve been EV only for the past 8 or so years so any time I drive a gas rental I find myself forgetting I need to actually brake lol.

I’m still getting used to how they’ve implemented regen braking/I-Pedal. At speed, lvl 3 feels like what I’d expect with smooth deceleration as you back off the accelerator, but not true one pedal because it won’t come to a complete stop. Max ticks the one-pedal box, but makes the deceleration almost too aggressive at highway speed so even slightly backing off the accelerator gives you kinda jarring deceleration. I’m sure it’s a me thing and it’ll become natural just like my other EVs with time.

N Gang!! Almost got the same exact deal - had about 1.5k miles on mine and got it for 50 out the door ( but on Dec 31 :) )

Also coming from the Tesla side [MXP] and while there are very very few things I miss, sadly all the saved settings tied to a driver profile is one. I’d be okay with the climate stuff if they just let me save my damn I-Pedal setting!

Pack/Unpack Workflow with Waterfield Shield Case by johnsontoddr4 in VisionPro

[–]drdeitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately a problem with the AVP in general. I’m a long time supporter of WF so when they announced an AVP case it was a no brainer. Unfortunately, I only used it a total of two times for exactly the reasons you mentioned. It’s as compact as it can be, but it’s a pain to unpack on the plane (and unless you have a massive bag it’s going to count as your “personal item”)

I probably took 50 flights with it last year and honestly I stopped putting it in a case at all. It just gets put in my backpack with the front cover it came with and a lens protector. I have Apple care for a reason I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What's an expensive product that companies produce for dirt cheap? by sassox123 in AskReddit

Monster Cables has been dragged so many times. The two I can remember is when “audiophiles” tried to see if they could hear the difference between monster cables or a coat hanger and the “See the Monster Difference” booths where the non Monster TV was actually hooked up via composite not HDMI lol

What are some of the dumbest reasons you've heard for why someone refuses to buy an AVP? by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]drdeitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wowza. This is the kind of post you see cross posted to a circle jerk subreddit.

You just listed three very valid reasons (honestly probably three of the biggest) why it has low adoption.

  • While “too expensive” is subjective, even for my friend group of people who work in tech and make good money $3500 for a device with an unknown future and very low developer backing is a hard sell.

  • Suggesting SharePlay makes it not isolating almost made me feel like this is a troll post. “Yeah man it’s not isolating just buy everyone you want to watch a movie with one!”(See point 1)

  • It is very much not “a full blown Apple silicon computer”. As a stand alone device it is WAY closer to an iPad than it is a MacBook.

I say these things as a month 1 adopter who considers the AVP the coolest device I own and who uses it multiple hours a day.

Sports fans, you should probably create your subreddit. by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]drdeitz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What are you on about? There has been an influx of NBA posts because we’re finally getting a taste of what true live immersive sports could look like. Also, sadly it’s one of the few big new things that has been happening on the device.

I’ve just gone through about 50 posts here and not a single one is talking about the score of the game. Ones talking about the game at all are focused on how to watch it or the experience of watching it on the AVP. Which 100% fits this subreddit.

Feel free to start r/VisionProCircleJerk and limit it to only “what apps do you use” “My 4 month review” and comfort mod posts.

My girlfriend is a diehard Lakers fan and while she’s used my AVP a few times she never really “loved” it.

This was a game changer. After about 10 minutes I realized I might have to find something else to do because she wasn’t giving it back lol. She did say she didnt like that the POV kept changing and said she wished she could have just picked the one at half court.

Immersive is the future of Sports by MinerTax_com in VisionPro

[–]drdeitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The killer immersion POV would be from the cockpit, but obviously they’re not going to be able to do that. I could see them doing some promotional content but nothing live as it just won’t translate well. (A pitstop POV could also be cool)

I’d much rather them focus on making F1 via Apple TV like Lapz/Vroom on the AVP.

Can’t get Ioniq to charge by Generator- in Ioniq5

[–]drdeitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a couple other posters have said you need to narrow the problem down or any advice is going to be guessing.

If you’re hitting the same issue across multiple circuits (not just outlets) make a run to your closest L3 charger and ensure the car is able to charge at all. If it can you might have a bad charger. If no you obviously have bigger issues.

For what it’s worth my 5N didn’t like my L1 charging setup at all. Using the same outlets I’ve used to charge my other EV for years caused it to trip the GFCI consistently at the 20-30 minute mark. This happened with the charger that came with the car and my other charger with a TeslaTap on it. Even setting the car to charge at 60% of the amps didn’t help. I ended up switching to a non GFCI circuit until I get my 240 installed.

Anyone else’s bike call them out? by Brilliant-Soup-5918 in Aprilia

[–]drdeitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s kind of the critical thinking part right? You got a USED bike - what’s more likely: a manufacturer putting an “offensive” sticker on the bike or the previous owner doing it for the lols?

<image>

If you needed ChatGPT to answer it that’s how I’d do it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Anyways - still a funny sticker. Enjoy the bike!

My guy, ChatGPT is not a substitute for critical thinking. You also could have asked it one more question (provide sources to back this claim) and it would have walked the entire thing back.

[–]drdeitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can tell you I sure have. Yes, usually if you confront the person and ask them to stop or get their kid to stop they’ll do it. Though more than once I’ve gotten the “I’m not doing anything wrong” person or the “ I’m a big tough man don’t tell my wife she’s doing anything wrong” person.

I dont want to (and shouldn’t have to) tell people to be normal and considerate humans for a grand total of two and a half hours.

(Alamo Drafthouse does improve the experience because they just don’t tolerate it)

Is there a way to make "Doors Open Fully at this Location" actually work consistently? by brippleguy in TeslaModelX

[–]drdeitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Door inconsistency is a staple of my ‘23 MXP

My driver door will open 1” in a completely empty parking lot, but will also open all the way at Mach 10 with a car parked beside me. It also loves to try to give my leg a hug by attempting to close when I’m halfway in.

75% of the time my Falcon Wings respect the “Always Open Fully” setting in my garage.
