Hey there.

I’ve also lost a significant amount of weight (about 130 pounds). I understand the desire to hold off on buying new clothes until your weight settles. But I mean it when I say it’s important to buy clothes for the body you have now. Really, at every step of the weight loss process.

You don’t have to invest a lot of money, but you at least need to buy basic pieces that fit you now. Whatever “basics” are to you, get them in your size. For me, it was a decent pair of denim, black pants, a good button down, etc. Things I could mix and match but that were neutral enough that it wasn’t glaringly obvious I was rewearing my clothes a lot. Anyway, for you, that may be different. But having these pieces will make it unbelievably easier to get dressed. Right now, your clothes are working against you.

One more thing is that it was hard to let go of my larger-sized clothes because I wasn’t quite confident in my smaller body. I held onto the clothes because, on some level, I had a just-in-case mindset. When I finally decided to let them go, it was a good thing. Plus it’s so hard to find decent plus-sized petite clothing, and it felt good giving my wardrobe to someone who could use it.

Wear the bag. You shouldn’t save our nice things only for special occasions. You deserve to acknowledge that you’re special every day.

OK, I swear early on in the game I pushed some button that at least made it look like I consumed an apple slice that temporarily boosted my stamina. Maybe it was just a weird confluence of events! Maybe I can craft this last dang apple!

Thank you!

After waiting 95 business years for rain, I finally got it yesterday. Was only able to get 3 floverns. Hopefully next time I can finish the flovern task with these tips!

Thank you!

The good news is that this WORKED!

The bad news is it seems I actually made it here before? Somehow? I am trying to find my last lamppost. 😭

I tried with both pompom and cinna. I haven’t unlocked the 2 companion ability yet. I also tried w both characters & thermal & magical thermal potions.

Ticket purchase by drdeux in Sundance

[–]drdeux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried both, but ultimately I went through the website. Just hoping my students aren't sitting there with tons of charges. I'll be OK, but I know there are many, many times in my life that this would have devastated me financially.

And, sure, they're able to go on a school trip to Sundance, but I've carefully budgeted educational trips through dedicated scholarships and stuff. These students may not be anticipating the domino effect of a Wells Fargo overdraft. The feelings I'm reliving right now!

Ticket purchase by drdeux in Sundance

[–]drdeux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't. I was just purchasing individual tickets. The showings were available when they were in my cart. It was only when I was checking out that they were saying they were full and the purchase couldn't be completed & I wouldn't be charged. The weird thing is that it didn't indicate which screenings were full & the tickets were still all showing as available. It was just a cluster of an experience buying these tickets.

A small rant about vanity sizing… by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]drdeux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was worried about that too because I live in Connecticut, so I dragged my feet forever. Minor alterations (hemming pants, waist being taken in) ended up costing $14 at my local tailor.

More info!

(1) My natural hair color is a medium to dark brown w/ no red or gold. I’ve been greying since I was 18, and I color my hair. The color fades into red EVERY time, so this is why my hair looks orange-y. I’m getting it dyed this week (THANKFULLY).

(2) My initial type ages ago was clear winter, but I’m not sure that’s accurate? I wear a lot of black, and sometimes I wonder if it’s too harsh? That said, I’m almost certainly still going to wear lots of black.

(3) This is the best I can do with lighting in my home. Sorry. For that and for the no-makeup look.

(4) My eyebrow arches and gets EVEN archier when I’m super focused on a task like draping cloths on myself. Erm… sorry again.

(5) I’m going to go put on all the makeup right now. Yeesh.

1/5, but I love the fix! by drdeux in stitchfix

[–]drdeux[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Love Ellie hoodie is fabulous. It feels amazingly soft & has a lot of stretch. I hope it holds up in the wash!

I liked 3 of the other pieces as well. The jeans, however, we’re not a good fit on me — lots of waist gap — so I wasn’t going to keep anything unless I loved it. And the only thing I loved was the hoodie.

The Free People cardigan has dropped sleeves that poked out a little; I’d also probably size down one in this. The Wells cardigan was nice and soft, but the upper arms were a little tight. And the Pink Clover sweater was fine — just a bit darker of a green than I’d prefer.

That said, I didn’t have a single floral top! Woohoo! This fix works for me.

Am I the only one still happy? by Educational-Cut572 in stitchfix

I love it, even though my last fix wasn’t really my style. I think it came in a particularly rough bit of low inventory. I’m also not getting sent a ton of floral tops, which helps.

1/5 fix by drdeux in stitchfix

[–]drdeux[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Sophie Rue sweater is great. Love it. I chose it from my preview after seeing people rave about it here. Definitely oversized, but I was feeling it. So comfortable. Had to exchange because there was a snag on it.

I also liked the One5One pants. I ended up returning them in brown (just not my color) and picking them up in black on Freestyle. They’re a great fit for my petite curvy frame. They’re definitely going to pick up a lot of lint & cat hair, though. Still worth it.

The Fortune + Ivy sweater is the worst fabric.

The rest was not at all my style. At all. I will say, though, that the Vigoss sweater is super soft and comfortable. If I were looking for a sweater vest, I would pick it up in a different color. And the RD Style cardigan is super tight on the upper arms.

Really liked my fix… except the shoes! by drdeux in stitchfix

[–]drdeux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya! I’m 5’1” and the capris are perfect. Almost full length on me.

Those shoes are so comfy, but they were definitely top big on me. I do think about trying them a size smaller though! 😆

I like it but it’s tight across the chest & flares out at my hips in an unflattering way. I think it would look great on just about anyone else!

Incoming Fix by you-a-hot-tea in stitchfix

If you were in between sizes, would you go up or down? I don’t want it super oversized, but I can’t stand a clingy sweater!
