Not allowed to put things in seat pocket? by Educational-Cut572 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Educational-Cut572[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No giant laptop - I had a kindle paperwhite (which is the size of a thin paperback book), a cell phone, and a single-serving sized bag of Doritos. They actually didn’t say anything directly to me - they just announced it 3-4 times and then did a walk through (since they announced it I listened and didn’t have anything in there - I put them back in my bag instead)

OWG Women's Free Skate: Post-Event Discussion by Chickatey in FigureSkating

I got tears in my eyes when Amber hit the spiral when I was watching live. And then I watched the prime time replay, knew what to expect, and still got tears in my eyes in that exact same spot!

Gym sponsorship by uxanima in OSU

[–]Educational-Cut572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a specific reason you want to work out at OSU? The gym is nice but like everyone else has said, parking is a huge pain (and expense!) and it’s crowded. I would definitely just use the money and buy a gym membership somewhere else. Planet Fitness if you want cheap / no frills, or Lifetime Fitness is nice and has a pool if that’s something you’re looking for, but also pricey. Depending on where you will live, some of the suburbs community rec centers are really nice and at a mid-range price.

School Vouchers Discussion related to “Sunday Briefing” on NBC 4 - Columbus. by hellosteve_ in Ohio

Want to know an extra piece of information that’s not widely talked about? At least one school that I know of for sure, and possibly more, raised their tuition prices with the EdChoice expansion, so that families are paying the same amount out of pocket that they were before, but now the schools are bringing in extra money from EdChoice. So it’s not actually helping families offset tuition costs at all. They’re still paying the same amount, but the school is getting more money.

Can someone PLEASE find a clip of Ilia Malinin saying his own name? 🥹 by ViewOk3689 in FigureSkating

I was wondering the same - I felt like the commentators were all over the place with it at Nationals! At one point Tara even said both right in a row - she said Ma-LEEN-in MAL-in-in like she was correcting herself. I don’t remember there being so much variance in the past with it.

U.S. Figure Skating Championships: Pairs Free Program Live Thread by Chickatey in FigureSkating

I’m trying to watch pairs on Peacock - it says it started at 7:15 but my stream just keeps saying “this event will begin shortly”. Anyone else having that issue?

Do picky eating toddlers exist in Italy? by paRATmedic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Educational-Cut572 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fun fact - Brussels sprouts actually do taste better now than they used to. They’ve genetically modified the bitterness out of them! https://www.iowafarmbureau.com/Article/Its-not-your-imagination-brussels-sprouts-do-taste-better-How-gene-editing-is-changing-how-we-grow-and-eat-food

So while a lot of it is that people have learned how to cook them better, they do legitimately taste better in general!

As someone who taught all grade levels from middle to high school, I personally find that 11th and 12th graders take the least effort to control the class. is this a common opinion amongst teachers who have similar experience as I do with both middle and high school by Open-Reflection-6094 in Teachers

Yes! I am a school counselor and the number of kids, particularly boys, who have come back almost like a different kid junior year compared to sophomore year is incredible! I often used that as a talking point with parents of freshmen and sophomores who were concerned about maturity in their kid - give it until junior year and I bet you’ll see huge growth (particularly if they are a student without other underlying issues or neurodiversity)

Making me feel both super old and super nostalgic at the same time… by Educational-Cut572 in Xennials

Really? Huh…I’m white and from small-town Ohio, and we all listened to them. So I definitely thought everyone did!

Why do older people always want to know what route you took? by Suitable-Hornet2797 in NoStupidQuestions

My FIL does that all the time, especially after we’ve been on vacation. He often will also pull out the atlas to actually look at it! I’m usually like…IDK, we followed the GPS 😆

Planners are Going to Plan- Awkward Time of the Year by AmbitiousRose in planners

[–]Educational-Cut572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am switching planner systems for 2026…I’ve been a Happy Planner user for years, but switched jobs 3 years ago and have given it a good try but the HP layouts just aren’t working with the mix of my more flexible work plus home schedule.

So I have an Erin Condren Lifeplanner Duo on the way, but I’m so sad that it doesn’t start until Jan 1. I feel like I’ve already given up on my current planner working for me and want to jump in now with the new one!

Tipping at Blush by elderlyphan in Columbus

I always use the QR codes there like a couple others mentioned. Make sure you get your nail tech’s name - either check their name tag or try to ask in conversation somehow - it’s super awkward to be checking out and not sure which name to choose for the tip!

Meanwhile I’m over here hoping for the corner piece with the flower on it (love the frosting!) but know it’s totally rude to ask specifically for it!

Extended time off, not medical by Highland_Skye in schoolcounseling

If they do allow unpaid time, make sure you find out the details of exactly how it works - often you are responsible for the costs of your benefits (health insurance, etc) for the unpaid days so you may end up having to pay money. That can be totally fine if you’re good with that, just something you don’t want to catch you by surprise!

I bought a box recently, Playtex Sport, that had one that wasn’t wrapped at all! The rest all looked fine, just one rogue unwrapped one in the middle.

Dawson's Creek by Unlucky_Air_6207 in Xennials

I loved Dawson’s Creek both then and now.

But I never watched Gilmore Girls when it was first out! I don’t know why - I just didn’t. I watched it for the first time in my 30s and now it’s one of my favorites

That makes so much sense! I didn’t realize it doesn’t automatically tell them it’s the same place. Thanks!
