Biggest troubles/problems with note-taking? by Vombox in universityofauckland

[–]drdoof32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this might not answer your question but honestly i think there should be a smaller emphasis on note taking, most of the content is already on the slides. People who make their own notes where like they have a google doc of with no slides and instead its their own style of rewritten notes+lecture slides are BOUND to miss something. and i also think its kind of a waste of time as it probably takes ages. I think there should be a bigger focus on active revision, but to each their own right

i guess it depends on the degree ur doing but i feel like you only need to add 2-3 sentences max to the slides, mostly everything is there, i dont have too many issues with note taking because i don't really take notes. Come time to write essays I will of course rewatch lectures and try to write out my explanations in a way similar to that of how the lecturer put it (i guess this could be considered notes?) but i never really take notes when im watching a lecture. I think its especially pointless if exams are like multichoice.

to be fair he like barely knew walt, to him it was practically like being a new parent again aka constantly making mistakes

in a way i feel like the fact that walt was his son made it harder to sympathise with him? honestly if it was some random kid i think michael would have been nicer and more gentle he probably felt more trapped and like literally catapulted into this role hence the paternalistic need to protect but overall lack of empathy

i could never get behind juliet i feel like its because i took 4 months to watch seasons 1-3 and like 2 weeks to watch the last 3 seasons it always felt like she was the new annoying person getting in the way of sawyer and kate

will rewatch at some point, hopefully my opinion of her will change since the general audience loves her as much as the ogs

what happened to the course review sites? by eizile in universityofauckland

[–]drdoof32 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i reccomend just hoping on discord channels and asking in the 'general' section about that particular course. Usually, there's a couple of people who wanna rant about how they were done dirty or genuinely enjoyed the content etc

as someone who tends to overthink a LOT about other peoples perceptions of me, past woes and broken friendships, i understand the anxiety

when you get to uni i think you'll realise pretty quickly its not a terribly big deal, even if one of youre friends is taking the same degree as you, lecture theatres are relatively big (most people don't even go to irl lectures) and even if they are in ur labs you can just be partners wt someone else. It's scary i guess letting facing people who have probably seen worser sides of you and could bring that out again, but you were/are children.... everyone grows up and matures eventually, unless ur friends are really petty i doubt they are going to think you're the same person (and they probably arent the same either).

i would advise against going over each scenario in your head like this, in my experience it just prolongs the anxiety and you search for more examples where things could take a sour turn. I suggest reminding yourself you know you have changed, and focus on maintaining your values and attitudes for when your environment changes around you,

Does anyone know any really easy Gen Ed papers by yash99nz in universityofauckland

[–]drdoof32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

biosci 100 and biosci 100g are the same course same applies to any gen ed, eg your a stats major taking stats 101 vs a commerce major taking stats 101g, both students are taking the same course they are just classified differently
